1/48 Airfix B-57B Canberra

Done for the 80 Years of Airfix GB, and now safely in the display case. Nothing prettier that a shiny black Canberra in my mind.

It’s not a bad kit but a little frustrating at times due to less than perfect engineering for things like the flap attachments. Once done it is difficult to handle due to its size and weight, a little over a pound with enough ballast to sit on the nose gear. There are issues with accuracy of surface detail, and the aft end of the canopy is too shallow, but that is hard to see with an open canopy. I used Phase Hangar tail surfaces and a CMK Resin and PE cockpit set which are both very good.

There is a build log here:

Wow super clean build, very nicely done Sir!

Beautifully done! I built this kit with battle damage for a vietnam veteran a few years back. Biggest kit I have ever built!

The B-57-B is a favorite of mine and yours is supurb. Remember the old “box scale” kit by Revell. I still have an Airfix 1/72nd scale Canberra as well as a Frog “side (off center) mounted” canopy varient. The 1/48th scale was long over due

Thanks!

I had one of those in the stash for a while. May be there still…

That’s a very nice & shiny black beauty! A super clean build! [y]

Great paint job!
