1/48 Accurate Miniatures P-39M Airacobra

Just finished this fantastic kit. A rebox of the Eduard P-39.

345thFS/350thFG Algeria 1943

Heard of N’s and Q’s but I don’t recall knowing about an M P-39. Looks real nice, John.

Great job. I love the weathering. Always liked the car doors on that plane.

The M was an upgrade of the L with an engine supposedly better at altitude. Better prop. Most were still used in ground attack because of the heavy armament. Only 240 built

Was Beginning to think I went overboard. But I think it looks good. The desert is an unforgiving environment.

Thanks, TJ.

Nice job!!! Great fitting kit…just lovely…except for all the clear parts. They SUCKED.
I found that if you carefully scribe a line just below the door window, you can bend them in so that they touch the canopy. Otherwise, if you don’t and try to glue the doors shut, there’s a gap a 48th scale pilot could put his arm through.
The echaust staining is great - looks very realistic.

Thanks

Nice work on your Cobra. I don’t think your weathering is overdone at all. The North African desert was unforgiving; I would expect any warbird used there to be dirty.

Excellent weathering!! I like your fading and streaking.

Thanks. That was the thought process I had when I was weathering it

Thanks. The fuel streaks were an idea because the it has so many tanks. Lots of places to drip. Especially since they were probably filling with a hand crank from a 55 gallon drum

Nicely built! Construction looks great, and the weathering looks appropriate, too! These planes got such a bad rap, but certainly excelled in capable hands. I’m thinking about building one of these in the near future, I’ve got a boxing with Bud Anderson’s markings from his training squadron. Might look cool next to an Old Crow Mustang!

Thanks for sharing.

Excellent work on an under built aircraft. Very nice work.

Thanks guys.

Excellent work Johnny. I’m build the Eduard P-400 right now which is almost at the paint stage. I hope turns out half that good.

Joe it’s the same kit. This was Accurate Miniatures P-400 but you can make any variant with what’s included in the box. I found a chart online that lists the proper parts for each variant
