Looks like a nice clean build. Not too up on my modern jets but the camo looks great and the sharks mouth really sets it off. I cant quite make out wats up with the canopy? The yellow paint on the framing looks quite thick and untidy. Have you got a close up of the framing? Id like to see that im wrong.
Great build overall.

Yeah the references said to paint thast part of the canopy yellow and I may have allowed the paint to build up. |

Philo, yellow paint is a bear. I hate it!!! It just takes [a LOT of] practice to get it to look right. The only way I’ve gotten it to look ok is to airbrush it on in very light coats. The camo looks very interesting, definately holds the eye. What kind of airbrush do you own?
Great job! I see it’s about to launch from the U.S.S. Whirlpool (a lesser-known flat top of the Fleet!).
Nice looking jet.

Careful with models in the laundry. Look at my prop inthe Avia thread.
Assembly looks good and clean. Real luftwaffe mig-21’s had a fairly hard edged camo pattern. In scale this model would have a feather 2 or 3 feet wide. I believe the canopy had a sealant around the edges, hence the light yellow or white color near the edges of the glass.
Other than that, it looks like you did a great job on construction. [tup]
Though I feel bad for the ground crew guy who apparetly got poke in the eye real hard with the pitot tube. [:D][;)] (j/k of course. you can easily straighten it out with some care).
I like it there philo. You usally see them in Soviet or Korean markings. The east Germany marking look cool on this bird.

I painted it with a Thayer and Chandler Vega but I still think it looks cool. The shark-mouth and the yellow JG-1 tail flash were painted using frisket film. The maltese crosses came from a Glencoe WWW1 albatross kit.I think I did a pretty good job on the afterburner can. |

I know but I figured since the models are in the basement and the washer has a light over it the photos would come out ok.Maybe I should wrap a white towel over the washer controls to avoid distracting from the model. |

nah,rub it in that you have a better washer than i do, lol, good wife and a washboard, just kidding.your mig looks awesome,it happens to be one of my favorite modern jets,so naturally i have one…looks no where near as good as yours[8D]looking forward to seeing more in the future.
Thanks Armornut! |

Nice job on the German Fishbed. I hope you are not planning on running through the washing machine.

Beauty Philo. The 21 is one of the coolest Mig’s out there. GReat job.

Other than the canopy, looks good Philo. Thanks for sharing.

I believe this particular bird took part in the Wa Shing offensive in the early 80’s [:P][(-D]
But seriously, looks like a great build. See if you can’t go back and do something about that canopy though. Maybe mask around it, remove the yellow and try painting it on much thinner in several lighter coats.
