1/48 A-10 Revell

I have been working on this kit on and off for a few months now. At one point I forgot all about it [:D] Its Revells first issue of the 1/48 scale A-10. I was deterred by the fit issues to stick with it. but I decided to just deal with it and finish it up.

The only addition to the kit was a Black Box resin pit that was designed for the later revell/monogram release. alot of shoe horning was to be had to get it to fit. Plus some additional antennas from plasticard. I aqquired the kit with no decals so I ended up making my own. The weapons were from the spares box.

Overall I am pretty happy with the outcome.

I have the same one on the pile to be done in the Euro camo. Article in one of the mags awhile back on the A-10 and some nice pics of the Euro scheme. IIRC there was a pic of the gun next to a VW bug for scale.

Yes I know which pic you are talking about with the vw. Its impressive. A few years ago when I was still in the air force I got a chance to go to the bone yard at Davis mothan and visit with the A-10 depot staff there. I seen a-10’s in various stages of disassembly in the process of getting their wings replaced. Also the first time I got to see the gau-8 out of the aircraft in person. It is trully a remarkable sight.

Really great job! Just saw this kit at Wal-Mart the other day and thought about picking it up. One of my favorite jets, but if this one is as much of a beast as you say not so sure if I want to go with the Revell…though you’ve proved it’s possible to make something really nice out of it, so maybe[Y] Now if I can just find where they keep the skills and abilities at Wal-Mart…hmmmmmm…maybe the next aisle over[;)]

NICE HAWG!!! I just received my Italeri Blacksnakes A-10 kit yesterday. I cant wait to get it started, I hope mine turns out as nice as yours is. Wonderful work!!

Thanks all. Rooster this is the first revell release of the kit. The current run is much better than this old one. You should have a go at it .
