1:350 Star Trek FIRST Pilot Enterprise build.

Hello!

Here is my 1:350 Star Trek Captain Pike Enterprise build. The model is based on how the 11’ filming miniature appeared in the first Star Trek pilot, "The Cage"featuring Jeff Hunter as Captain Christopher Pike and a young Vulcan Science officer named Spock!

I am a purisist when it comes to these builds so the model is as close to the original in this scale and features NO lighting. The 11’ filming miniature wasn’t lit at this time.

It also features the following…

The four large windows on the upper saucer were filled in and sanded smooth.

The rear shuttlebay’s scribed detail was sanded smooth.

The detail on the rear engines was removed and sanded smooth, again, per the 11’ filming miniature.

A number of windows on the secondary hull were filled in and sanded smooth.

The paint was mixed from Tamiya paints, based on my Photo reference, and Applied via an air brush.

The power domes were air brushed in a swirl pattern from the inside.

Surface detail was chisled off and sanded smooth.

Here is the model on display from a recent visit to my local Hobbyshop, AAA HOBBIES and Crafts in Magnolia, NJ.

The Neck/Dorsal is clear coated in a gloss…again, per the original Filming miniature.

That looks good, I was thinking of doing something like that but with the 18" models.

When did they change the bridge section and put the square pattern in the back of the nacells? Was theat the second pilot or the teh beginning of the series before they went to the bubble in the engines?

The changes were made after the second pilot. However several changes were made to the model between pilots as well. The model was given lights for one thing…among several other additions.

Nice job! Brings back great memories

Again, many thanks!

Your kits are outstanding as always.

Hey Captain,that looks really good.

If you watch this video of the restoration of the USS Enterprise you will see that the sensor bands on the lower saucer are actually raised not recessed and that there were grid lines drawn in under the saucer as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA8D5lK8guE

Whoa! Thats way nice… Love it and the paint job is beautiful.

Love the video ^^^^^^^^^ . Didnt even know that mueum existed.

The Smithsonian has been around for ages but you would need several days to just see everything in all of it’s different wings which are spread out all over DC Virginia and Maryland.

That is the PRODUCTION version of the ship. NOT the original configuration as seen in the pilot.

The pilot did NOT have the grid lines…at all.

That’s not the place he is talking about. Please READ the entire post before offering answers. He is referring to the STAR TREK ORIGINAL SERIES SET TOUR in Ticonderoga, That I mentioned. Feel free to google it to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks.

his arrows were pointing at my post above his.

Great job, I’ve always been impressed with your builds.
