Hi,
I want to make some tow cables for my 1/35 Panzer IV, Panther and Tiger I models…what is the best way? I’ve heard of wire or thread being used for the cable but I’m not sure about the ends.
Thanks,
Kevin

I am trying to do the same thing. I haven’t tried it yet, but I want to use a drill and tightly wind several strands of thin wire. Then drill out the ends of the existing wire rope piece that came with my model and stick the twisted wire into the ends that I drilled out. But before I get to that I have to finish carpeting my bedroom… Carlton
Here is Crockett’s article on how he makes them cheap and easy;

Try the search engine for more tips, there are 19 pages on tow cables.
Perfect!..that’s exactly what I was looking for …gee, why didn’t I think of that!?
Carlton…good luck on the carpeting.
I use picture hanging wire, or thread I found at Home Depot that looks perferct when painted. I use the kit end parts, just drill out the ends to accept the wire or thread.
friend of mine uses fishing line leader, which is threaded wires. comes in all different sizes and lengths. those are pretty darn cheap too. I personally have not used it since my level is not quite up there yet, but would like to know whether any of you actually have used it.
Here is how I did it on my Kingtiger.
The tow cables were made from plastic covered steel wire rope that I got from work. I melted the plastic off and annealed the wire with a small blowtorch. The cable eyes were made from a little piece of the wire and the metal on the inside of the eye was made from a thin sheet of lead peeled of the neck of an old wine bottle. Only the piece between the eye and the cable is from the kit part.
TMN1,
That is very nice work! [bow] me not worthy, me not worthy!
