Hey Doc, so far so good. I’ll hold my critiques until later. But I will say that I think the figures need a little dirtying up. But I’m looking forward to your updates. Hey Devil Dog, from one Marine to another. Semper Fi.

I’d suggest moving the wire out as far as you can. The idea is to be able to shoot people in the wire before they can get at you.

There’s a nice opportunity too to put a slope down below the wall. Even just a 1" slope down would be pretty accurate.

I’m just sourcing a couple of good books about fire bases, I was not there.

You also need to blend the sand bags into the groundwork more. Right now they are sitting on top of the ground with visible gaps under them and with a stark contrast in color. They should fit the contour of the ground and sink into it a bit. They should also have the ground color brought up onto them as the red dust/dirt permeated everything.

An example.

Hey ! Tiger 2 !

Youse is a Marine too ? Wowsa ! deys a lot ob usins on heah LOL.LOL. All I can say is Semper Fi ! T.B. Try to push the wire out at least five body lengths of your tallest troop . If ya ain’t got the space - No Sweat .Looking Good !

Gung Ho, OuhhRahh, Aye, Aye Sir.

The red soil wasn’t everywhere. Up in the highlands it was more like what you see in the Midwest.

Yeah, put the wire out a bit and raise the scene. We always wanted to be on high ground to see the bad guys coming.

Remember, the Corps had a totally different take on the war than the Army. Fluid, mobile and “Hearts and Minds” were the Corps approach.

Hello!

Your dio is looking good!

Some time ago I’ve built this:

1:35 M55 Quad 50 Diorama by Pawel

If you like here are some notes on the groundwork, maybe they can help you some:

hello doc .

I have to realize this several years ago :

And this one is in progress:

Note how Iroquois does his sandbags. They are rounded, ploppy like a bad pillow. Recall that sandbags are filled locally, and as a fatigue detail. So, they tend to only every be about 2/3 full; the open ends are then tied, or just rolled under The helo overhead adds drama–but, it’s going to complicate your life, as you needs to show everything being whipped around by the downwash. The bones of it are good, and will build up quite nicely.

This may or may not help:

all good on the feedback maybe I’m using the wrong clay on the bags they don’t want to lay down after the dry. I’ll just have to chalk that up to being a NUB this is my first try after 30 years

Hello doc.

I use that, it is some dough for sculpture which dries looks and which I restick with the néoprène.
