I just finished my first tank 1/35 Tamyia Panzer Ausf A but I see a lot of people making 1/48 scale models. I want to now what is your opinion about both size. I know the 1/48 will bee smaller with less detail. Is there less piece in 1/48 than 1/35?

I only do 1/35th armour, and from what i can tell, there is a far wider se3lection both of the kits and accesories in 35th than in 48th. I can’t see that the space saved would be that great, and its not like 35th armour takes up that much space.
I have built and enjoyed both,1/48 got me started in armor,but there are more subjects currently available in 1/35.I have seen some fantastic 1/48 stuff built.
In plastic, 1/48 scale armor is very limited in subjects. Mainly WW2 standard subjects and a few modern vehicles. Unlike 1/35 where just about any vehicle is available in multiple kit form and aftermarket items are readily available.
Having said that, if you enjoy a nice, small kit and only want a token T-34, KV, Sherman, Tiger or other panzer, 1/48 is a very collectible scale. Many of them are very nice little models that look great right out of box.
Pricewise, some of the small 1/48 scale kits are around the same price of more complex 1/35 scale kits.
And I will jump in for being an 1/48 advocate. Yes, there are way more choices for 1/35 and a distinct lack of choice for modern armoring 1/48. However, it really really is great to have your aircraft and armor be scale consistent. In general 1/48 has fewer pieces and is easier to build. We are having a 1/48 group build right now. I agree with Bish. To me, 1/48 is not detailed enough and I have way too many 1/35 accessories, conversion kits, figures, etc. to change now. Since I don’t build 1/48 aircraft, compatability is not an issue either. I do build 1/35 helicopters to be in the same scale with my armor and figures though. They go together nicely since helos usually support ground troops closely anyways.
