Working on this, Tamiya US tank M41 Walker Bulldog. Can someone provide some history? Is this a good kit? What is the color scheme of this tank? Thanks
It’s a Tamya classic, great for the first-time treadhead… throw a tube of glue in the box and shake it, out pops a tank… (Not really, but it’s an easy kit to do.) As far as color schemes, paint it any color you want, as long as it’s Olive Drab… The only warning I have is that be ready to make new grab-handles and lifting eyes from paper clips… They’re all over the thing, and you’ll lose at least one…
As mentioned above, it is a pretty good kit. It is missing a lot of finer details, but it still looks like an M41 when done.
The actual vehicle was developed in the early '50s as a light recon tank. It came about too late for the Korean war and was out of US front-line service before Vitenam began. Many were used by the S. Vietnamese in combat though, just not the US. It was also used in many other NATO and Asian partner nations as well. About the only color I have seen it in is OD green as well.
The German version is painted in that grayish form of OD green. As far as history goes, it fought well for the Japanese during the multiple attacks by Godzilla and other movie monsters. The Danish used a modernized version into the 80s that carried a camouflage scheme.
Rob,
Since I never was a tanker, what would be the prefered round for attacking Godzilla, AP or Heat? [swg]
