1/35 HobbyBoss M1070 Tank Transporter build

hey guys, i mentioned aq while back that i had ordered the HobbyBoss M1070, well i got it. this kit is amazing. im not very far in, but here is what i discoverer before i had to pack it up to move:

Well, upon opening the box i was pleasantly suprised. almost all of the sprues were padded in foam and bagged either alone or with only one other sprue. the PE set(a TON of PE), tires, springs, pins, hoses, wires, “glass”, and one-piece slide molded hood were all packed neatly into their own box. The parts are well molded, with no flash (yet) and ejector pin marks in hard to see places. Decal sheet is not huge, but plenty is provided to mark the truck and trailer. The tires are magnificent! clear markings, great detail, and no distortion!!! well, at least the cab tires are, i havent had a chance to examine all the trailer tires yet… there is something like 40 or 42 of them. The direction sheet (well, direction BOOK) is great, 3D CAD drawings illustrate the part placement very well. Only one drawback: no “in-assembly” color callouts. I was impressed but disappointed at the suspension/steering: the suspension is awesome, great detail, many parts (36-38 per axle/mount) and the steering is “poseable” in th frontmost and rearmost tractor axle, but there is a catch: when the truck sits on the tires, the tierods fall out… the wheels will have to be glued in place, unless anybody has any suggestions on how to remedy this problem. Well, here are some pics of what i have so far.

Pretty substantial box lol

some of the sprues… tiny molded parts on this kit… blew me away.

the one piece hood is great

68 pieces in^

I will post more tomorrow, the new version of photobucket does not work well with this desk top lol. hope you enjoyed this little teaser!

Looks like a massive project, have fun with it and keep us posted! [Y]

36 piece front axle

Although you won’t be able to see it when it’s done, the CV axles are a nice touch!

Roughly 160-170 pieces here. Sorry for posting one pic per post… Phone is giving me attitude.

Looking good so far and also looking like it will be a fun project. Bit too big for my tastes but I’ll be following with interest.

I built this earlier in the year and enjoyed it from start to finish. The only problem I had that I couldn’t correct came during the building of the trailer. In step 10 where you’re making the 10 rear axles and suspension pieces use care when attaching parts P23 and P24. There are several places you can’t allow cement to get to that are pointed out but the problem I created for myself was when I was trapping part P13 between 23 and 24. Part 13 MUST be able to freely swivel because all 10 axles (they have working suspension and are a marvel when done) pivot together so the trailer can be steered to go sideways. I got some glue on two of the assemblies and managed to free one but not the other. P13 will eventually be used to attached the axles to the trailer and is a critical piece. Everything works (unlike the front steering on the truck as you already discovered) but I had to disconnect one axle on mine so the others wouldn’t bind up simply because I wasn’t paying attention.

i grabbed one of these when it was a squadrononline mystery deal for $55 including shipping.
