Hey everybody i just got this kit hoping to do wonders with it.
Has anybody ever built this monster?
It has 1,426 parts all up and for AU$54 i didnt want to pass it up!!
If anybody has any info on it that would be greatfully appreciated?
I have looked at one review on PMMS and it seemed to give it a good wrap.
Thanks
robert
I have not seen too many people that have been speaking of this kit, but as per the Perth review, it really looks like a nice kit, and the bonus figures are a huge plus. Does it come with a turned aluminum barell as well?
I’m working on it right now. It is a great kit. I got a heads up on another sight about the grouser covers on the rear deck. The oval shapes back by the rear lights. I guess this variant did not have them. I just shaved and sanded them off. It is a good kit to work with.
It’s a great kit. nice and clean details. the aluminum barrel was a plus. i am still being tortured by the tracks as it’s actually even more complicated to assemble than most german indy tracks. Not having that much fun with the include PE fret either, but could just be my lack of experience in using PE parts for armors. the two sets of figures included were really awesome (i am one of those guys that gets over 10 to 15 sets of dml figures at a time in the mail), those are already ten to twelve bucks there.
check out the MAD sherman GB that’s going on this week. a couple of guys are working on it, or in CDNTanker’s case, done working on it.
heh… I don’t understand why everyone has a problem with the indy tracks! The only annoying part was the PE parts on it. DML’s PE is NOT the best. It’s a super soft brass that is really easy to mess up. If I were to make a recommendation I’d say get a Verlinden set, or an Eduard set for your sherman. The tracks were easy, just a dab of glue on the edge, join ten, add the grousers… wait a few minutes and bend them to fit the tanks. If you do the tracks in groups of ten, it becomes less tedious IMHO
ohhhh, that’s true on the track links. which cement do you use though CDNTanker?? my testor’s liquid cement is drying too fast on me. the second the part is cemented, it’s almost half dry when it get to the other part to be joined together. i remember my old tamiya cement was slightly thicker and dries much slower, same applies to tube cement.
I use the Testors cement with the long metal tube… it dries quick, but not super fast… it allows me to bed the track without it falling apart on me… do you have a fan blowing or the AC on when you’re doing it?
my work desk is right next to the door and it doesn’t feel much of the AC’s effects in jersey weather nowadays. I used the testor liquid cement in the glass bottle with that lil brush on the cap. it’s pretty much thin as the tamiya green capped extra thin cement.
