1/35 Dora Railway Gun Release Date

Hi Guys,

I’m one of the few that have ordered and paid up for this huge kit… call me an idiot if you wish, but I couldn’t resist it.

Does anyone out there have a firm release date yet as I’m champing at the bit to get my grubby little paws on this kit.

James

The last word from Modelbau was that it would ship late March, delayed due to the need to resize boxes to be able to ship it with less costs.

Just in time for the addition on my house I’m adding for it!

I wish I had more money.[BH]

Man you gotta post some pics of all the sprues when you get that things…it’s absolutelty crazy!

I will be doing an out of the box review on my website when I finally recieve the box (whatever size it is!!) and will post a link

I must admit to looking forwards to getting this model as I think that it will make a great display item as well as a challenge. I suppose tht some who have ordered this beast will spend lots of time super detailing and researching for missing or wrong detail and dding or fixing it. I myself will be more than happy to build it out of the box and paint it in mint condition to display in a case. I’m not sure how to paint the rail ballast and I’ve never used a airbrush to date…but there’s a first time for everything!

Who else has bought one of these kits? come on out from under yhe modellig bench and admit it and when photos of the kit sprues become available be the envy of all here.

James

I came very close, very close, to actually ordering one. What finally deterred me was the fact that I’d rather spend the same amount of time that it would require to complete building the other 90+odd kits that I have in the stash. I’m looking forward to seeing one get built up by those who will be getting these though. [;)]

Guess I’ll be brave and show my face here, so to speak. I’ve got one ordered and paid for, too. Been posting information to different threads here on the Dora since the first announcement. This one is a real stretch for me as a modeler as I mostly do large scale fully rigged wooden ships. They take so long that I work on other things on the side like wood furniture, paper architectural models, and an occasional small armor kit.

My GRAND PLAN is also to build it OOB and put it above my 65" widescreen HDTV, probably the only thing in the house it won’t dwarf. The wife still doesn’t know what’s up so there is some splanin’ in my future. [#oops]

Thats going to be an interesting build to watch . It must come in a reinforced box with handles on it ![:)]

I wish I had the budget for…oh man!

I dont even think about purchasing a kit that big Gun Tech ! At the pace that i complete models , well , lets just say i dont have enough years left to complete it !! [;)]

But i am looking forward to seeing one built here on the forums .[:)]

As I read on a sign of a “tool crib” at my unit:

“Whoever dies with the most toys wins”

I don’t think I will ever be able to complete my stash, but it keeps growing [;)]

I’m being greedy [:P]

Man do i hear you Gun Tech ! My stash is so damned big it looks like warehouse in my basement ! Oh the joy of looking at all of them boxes ! I have to go thru my stash sometimes just to see whats in there ! I’m affraid to count how many kits there is .[sigh]/[:D]

Hi Dora Enthusiasts,

I just finished up the 1/35th Trumpeter Leopold. I told myself that with over 1140 parts it was too overwhelming to do something a little bigger. But being a glutton for punishment I also placed my order for the Dora. It will make a spectacular display and I am looking forward to the build. I will be more than happy to maintain a log and post pictures and progress to this site once the build starts.

It’s nice to see snapdragon on this site. Hi James. I see that you also keep involved in various types of modeling. I had to stop work on the Granado. My eyes are getting pretty bad with the onset of cataracts. I tried rigging the two forward cannons under the Foc’sl and couldnt do it. It will be a lot different once the lens implants are done.

Happy modeling to all,

IR3

I heard it comes in a 3’x1’x6’ plywood crate…

Big enough for my fiancee to burry me in it… [(-D]

Yeah, if you can’t take 'em with you, you might as well be buried in the box…

Any aftermarket crew yet? 2000 men at parade rest listening to the General or an alternate 2000 showing the gun in action.

Hi IR3 great to hear from you.

Sorry to hear about your cataracts, but it’s a relativily (sp?) simple operation and I don’t think your put out during the operation. In fact When my father had his done the surgeon asked him what kind of music he wanted to listen to!

I hope you’ve enjoyed Granado so far and you’re going to finish her.

I’m going to cover my Dora build on my website and if you want to send pics & text etc to me I’ll host them for you.

…that goes for anyone else here. got a huge modelling project…or any modelling project and are willing to fully document your project with text, pictures, techniques etc or would be willing to contibute an article on a particular aspect or modelling technique to be hosted on my website I’ll be interested to hear from you. I can’t offer money, but can offer my webspace to benefit the modelling community and modellers who would like to document their builds or explain their techniques to benefit other modellers.

Interested? contact me at:

I’m not a professional modeller or anything like that, I’m a hobby modeller and do it for fun.
