trying to find best 1/35 cargo netting and have neither the skills or time to make any from a jig… I thought about fishnet stockings but would like to get some info… thanks
Geoff,
I use medical gauze. Just dip it in OD paint, add some paper scraps for simulated foliage, and voila! Instant camo net.
yeah, i use regular cammo netting 1/35 scale but cargo netting has wider spaces i thought…
It does. You can try finding some cheese cloth at Hobby Lobby in larger sizes.
I went the long long way of making a jig and spent 4 hours running string back and forth. Trust me, it wasn’t fun. If you can find larger cheese cloth, and as you mentioned something like fishnet pantyhose would certainly provide a better alternative to your nerves that what I went through.
so, fishnet stockings would be okay for the scale then?
Try that plastic net you find on fruit, like strawberry baskets. It might be a little difficult to work with, but the spaces and thickness are about right.
I found some camo netting at my LHS from a company named Tech Star. Part #TC3002 is the brown camo. I think it was $4.50 US. Here is a link with a picture. Tech Star has all kinds of detail stuff like mesh, leaves, barb wire, etc. I think they have something to do with VLS Corporation.
I have used a hair net for camo netting. First cut off the elastic around the edge, pin out on a flat board, cover with spray adhesive and sprinkle with dried parsley from a spice jar. When dry paint in various green and browns. One advantage of the spray adhesive is that it gives a bit of strength to the net so it can be shaped easily.
Hope this helps.
I found 1/35 cargo netting on ebay, there is a guy selling it in any color and camo pattern you can think of, I will do a search and see if he still has any listed, then I will post the link here.
No luck, he must have sold it all, the name on the label is Scorched Earth.
