Hey guys anyone have a good method of painting BDU camo? working on two figures will be my first attempt at it so a little worried.
the other thing tamiya shows the flack jacket as woodland camo too. i served in the early 90’s and remember (or at least i think i do) my flack jacket just being OD green is my memory slipping or am i right ?
thanks for the help everyone.

Check out this article by Pete Becerra at Armorama’s Historicus Figure Forum for great tips and techniques for painting Woodland BDUs.
The PASGT body armor vest in Tamiya’s Modern Infantry (I’m assuming that is the one you are referring to) is correct. It depends on when in the '90s you were in and what branch.
In the early '90s, the old-style, all-OD flak vests were still used by some units. In the mid '80s, about '84-'85, the PASGT body armor, along with the PASGT helmet (Kevlar) came into the system. PAGST Body armor came in only Woodland camo, but also had a 6-Color and a 3-color DCU outer shell for desert use.

However, if you were a tanker, the CVC body armor was more common. Some still wear the all-OD CVC body armor today as well.
CVC Body Armor

The latest body armor is the IBA (Interceptor Body Armor), as seen since about 2002.

It comes in Woodland, 3-color DCU, USMC Coyote Brown, and now in US Army digital ACU patterns.
thanks Gino for the info
i was in from 92 to 95 with the 101st airborne.

I was with the 10st (101st AVN BN) from late '84-mid '86 and I had the woodland camo PAGST vest with newly issued KEVLAR helmet ( was originally issued the M1 steel helmet). I remember seeing “chicken plate” that the aircrews wore that was OD, perhaps the same as the CVC armor?

The aircrew “chicken plate” armor vest was similar to CVC body armor. Chicken plate had an added hard plate on the chest and back that created a bulge on both sides though.
