Can anyone recommend a place I might be able to buy 1/32 scale F-14 Tomcat decals, I can’t seem to find anything. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi, You might try Two Bobs, Cam Decals, Flight Deck, just to name a few. There’s also companies like Squadron, Great Models Web Store, Meteor, agian just to name a few. I ordered some Tomcat decals (1/32) from Two Bobs without any problem. Hope it helps.
Hello fellow Hoosier! Thanks for the advice, as I will be looking for some decals for the Cat as well!
What version are you building an ‘A’,‘B’ or ‘D’?

just got some brand new decals from Zotz. And they are un-freakin’ believable! They are decals for ‘Victory 103’ the Jolly Roger F-14 that sported the 60th anniversary scheme, and the ‘Final Tomcat Cruise’ markings. They even included the markings for the pilots’ and RIO’s helmets!![:O][wow] Here is a preveiw from ARC… click on the far right pic to see what I’m talking about:

I am trying to find a reason to buy them since I have already got a set in 1/48 from Twobobs. And I also have a set of VF-31 F-14D CAG bird decals in 1/32… man…decisions, decisions…
Anyway,Zotz also makes markings for an ‘A’ from VF-111 ‘Sundowners’ that was named ‘Miss Molly’ and had some nose art.Decals for the Tomcat are plenty…you just gotta know where to look and eizzle and ledslead have gave you a good vector… (LOL just had to use that one!) Hope you find what your looking for.

I am building the “A”, but I wouldn’t mind converting it to a “B”. I think the only thing I would have to do would be to change the exhaust cans and the ejection seats. but finding the exhaust cans could prove to be a chore!
Thanks for the replies fellas; I apologize for not responding sooner but for some reason I couldn’t login until today?
Regarding the decals, I’ll be making an F-14B. I wanted to make a D but after seeing the Zots VF-103 decals, it’s a done deal. The helmet insignias really sold me - I’m an aicrew geek, sorry.
One of you guys asked about changing burner cans to convert an A to a B or D? Here’s a link to Meteor Products. They have the aiframe and cockpit conversion kits from Teknics to make the coversion, just search under “Teknics.” I’ve been doing a lot of research before I start this project as most of you know its an expensive kit and I can’t screw it up. Thanks again for the replies.
Thanks NavyAO! That is just what I needed [tup] I might be looking for some of those VF-103 decals as well [;)]
My pleasure “eizzle!”
Well Navyao, Have you had any progress on your Tomcat? I just ordered the upgrade kit tonight from Meteor, and my Zots decals. I got the office of mine all done for the most part, which was basicly painting it and putting in the PE, but its for the A model, I just won’t show it off with to much detail [:D] Thanks for the links, I think this one is gonna turn out to be a real nice build [tup]
eizzle,
No progress yet, but thanks for asking. I’m making the trip to Virginia Beach for the Tomcat Sunset at NAS Oceana this month so its going to be an expensive one! I’ll have to work some more overtime and then I’ll buy the Teknics Bombcat and B mod conversions. I did however buy the VF-103 decals from Zots; are those sharp or what? He’s also got decals for VF-2. Keep me posted how everything fits.

I am so jealous! I will say I am lucky, cause I did get to see Tomcats fly once at an airshow, pretty awesome!
I have done some work on it, but I stopped short of the afterburner cans, cause I figured I would do the conversion. My only gripe so far is that half the airframe are raised panel lines and the other half are recessed? That just seems odd to me! Yes the Zots decals look awesome! It sounds like there are enough decals to do a couple planes, which wouldn’t be all that bad [:D]
I got my decals today and my upgrade set. The decals look awesome, and the upgrade set does to, problem is, I only got 1 afterburner can… I am pretty sure the Tomcat is a dual engine fighter, unless I have missed something in the past, oh, 20 years since TopGun came out [:D] Ohwell, I called Meteor tonight and they said send it back and put a note inside there and they will send me a new one.
Hea “eizzle,”
It’s been a busy week, sorry I’m just replying now…So you liked the decals huh? I’ve never built a model that came with decals for the aircrew helmets, I just think that’s so cool - I’m a geek! You must be ticked about getting only 1 burner can, I would be. Are they giving you anything for the trouble or at least paying the shipping? You’re right, the Tomcat is a dual engine fighter, although if you’re building an “A” you could have it displayed with one of the TF-30’s pulled for re-work, that was very common in the A’s. I’ve got the itch to get started on mine. I also read what you mentioned about the panel lines…Have you decided how to attack that? What about pre-shading? I’m not going to re-scribe panel lines on that big of a jet, I’ll figure out some other way, but not that. Keep in touch and keep me posted on your build.
The decals look great, enough to build two jets, one CAG and one in low vis grays. I don’t usually use the crew in my models, as I feel it kinda takes away from the rest of it, but I might pose them with the RIO in his office and the pilot climbing the ladder, just to use the helmet decals.
I’m not sure what to do about the panel lines, maybe preshade the raised ones, as that area seems to get a lot dirtier, that or use them for positive outlines to use diffrent shades on the airframe? Its odd that they would do that, but hey, I don’t engineer them, just build 'em[;)] I don’t think I am in any place to be re-scribing that thing, the last time I used my scribe I had to sand out the goofs!
I don’t know whats going to happen with the afterburner cans yet. I will mail them back today, it should only cost a few bucks, but yeah, I think they should at least give me credit for my next purchase or something? I called them and told them what happened and I got a quick “just mail them back and we will send a replacement” so who knows? I guess if they do something about it great, if not I will just ask what they can do for me. I still have to tear mine apart, I am almost tempted to buy another one to do the conversion on, but man, they are kinda pricy!
