inspired by Chuck Sawyer’s build of the F-4E(nov/dec issues), picked up the C/D fer very cheap at a show.
have the Avionix cockpit and plan on getting the Aries afterburner set.
aside from that, is there anything else I need for the C version? also, any hints or advice ya’ll could help me along with 'll be much appreciated 10-4
It’s a fairly simple build. It’s not as detailed OOB as the newer Tamiya 32nd stuff but still nice. Some Eduard PE wouldn’t hurt. You do really need to go with the resin pit and cans though. Also, find some decals. Tamiya decals are awful.
The only other big weakness are the intakes. I believe there are resing seamless ones out there, or were, I just used FOD covers.
Only other advice would be to avoid Chucks painting/weathering technique. He’s obsessed with the salt and it just doesn’t look good on anything buy carrier born stuff. And try to get the colors right…his are not. You can find his build threads at ARC. He’s a character…that’s all ill say…lol

Interesting observation about something that is clearly subjective without any backup whatsoever. I could go on and on about how the weathering on my model matches 80’s era F-4E’s in Germany, but I think the long term use of my pic of this model at the top of this website says it all.
F-4E in Germany, circa 1981
