anyone out there that has thought about or done a conversion from the old Y22 kit to the F22 in service? I’ve got a 1/32 kit that came up on ebay, and I’ve done some research, and it looks like an interesting build - lots of mods to make it “correct” plus details that aren’t readily available. It’ll take time, but it’ll be a big’un when it’s finished.
F-22 raptor website is a good start, and there may be others(?). Any feedback is appreciated!
If by “lots of mods” you mean basically scratchbuilding an F-22, then yeah. The YF-22 shares almost nothing with the production version. You would basically need a new airframe to start with, as the production Raptor is larger than the YF. The YF was a proof of concept, and little more. There’s a myriad of shape differences, and size issues. If you want a 1/32 F-22A, you’re looking at scratchbuilt.
