1:32 scale Hasegawa F-5E

I went to a model show last week and found an old 1:32 scale Hasegawa F-5E Tiger II. It was missing the canopy so the guy gave it to me for five bucks. A quick phone call to Dragon USA and eight bucks later, I got a whole new clear sprue.

I will be using the resin shark nose from John’s Models and Two Bobs VFC-111 Sundowners decal sheet.

I began the cockpit a couple of days ago and assembled it tonight.

Hey btp,

I like what I see my friend and excellent choice of markings to boot…!! I have those same exact decals only in 1/48th scale…

How does the over all kit look?? Does she have raised panel lines or are they engraved? Looking forward to more updates…

Thanks for posting…

Nice work on the Pit. Keep us posted.

Good score! [tup]

One of the greatest aircraft ever, IMHO. The 'pit looks pretty good, if a tad basic. That can be chalked up to the age of the kit, I suppose. In that scale, you can do a lot and it looks like you’re doing fine.

Nice score on that kit! Youa are off to a fine start, the pit looks great! Keep the pics coming as you progress, please!

That was actually a huge selling point for the F-5. The instrumentation was kept as low tech and simple as possible so the countries that were buying the F-5 could A) fly them quickly without a ton of training and B) keep them in the air with as little maintenance as possible.

The kit itself looks good…decently detailed raised panels…the cool thing they did was give you the ability to open one of the nose cannon doors…the gun is really well detailed.

O very cool…!! I know my Local Hobby Shop has one left… MMmmmmm. Yea I remember the origianl box art showing the built up w/ the gun doors opened and the pilot standing in front… Ah the memories…

Thank you for replying and I am looking forward to seeing more WIP’s

Hey butz, I would hang tight…Hasegawa is re-releasing the kit with the shark nose already in the kit and VFC-111 markings already included. You can pre order it from Sprue Brothers now

a little more progress…this kit seems to build itself. And very little putty work will be needed, with the exception of the intake on the left side, the seems are almost non existant.

Butz, you can see the open gun port I was telling you about in the first pic…obviously without the gun right now.

Unnnnngh, must get a Hasegawa 1/32 F-5 (doing the Frankenstein walk…)
