The plastic is the same. The Gunship version has guns and missiles which were not used by US forces on the long-bodied UH-1D/H model. The shorter UH-1B/C models were the gunship version. Other than the incorrect weapons mounts and different decals, they are the same.
So it’s a good starting point for the Aussie Bushranger?
Revell made two different long cabin Hueys in 1/32, a gunship and a slick. The gunship came with external weapons mounts and ammo cans on the cabin floor interior. The slick had only the frame and canvas seating interior and no weapons of any type. I had both original kits as a kid
Gunship
Both have been re issued in different boxings over the past 30 years, but the gunship more often than the slick.
Sort of, the weapons are wrong, you would need M-23 doorgun mounts and to use the rockets from the kit (I would get better ones though). You could use the kit weapons mount pieces for the forward miniguns, but you would need to source the miniguns. Cobra Company makes 1/32 M23 gunmounts: http://www.cobracompany.com/32004.htm They also do the rocket pods: http://www.cobracompany.com/32003.htm I don’t think any AM company does the miniguns and mounts in 1/32 or 1/35. You could ge a set from one of the Academy 1/35 UH-1C kits though. They are close enough in size.
They are the same, fictitious gunship version with different decals. The lower pic (labeled correctly as a UH-1H) is actually marked as a slick, Wasp 674.
I am pretty sure that the gunship kit comes with the option of quad M-60s or a pair of miniguns to mount outboard of the rocket pods. At least the original kit did when I built it way back when. But, those are both reboxings of the original release gunship “Huey Attack Helicopter” kit.
I do seem to remember the miniguns in the original boxing now that you mention it. The reboxings should have them too.
boy talk about memories being brought back by this thread. You guys remember the combo kit that came with the Slick and the OH-6 Loach?
Yup. I bought one off of eBay several years back and have it in my stash now.

BEST. EVER…
I do believe Gino with some modifications to the UH-1D/H you can make a UH-1N(Airforce version without the need to relocate the tail rotor to starboard as with the Navy UH-1N) out of the Revell UH-1D base kit .
The issue for a UH-1N is not really the tail rotor. The tail rotor side switch is easy. An N model has a totally different nose (more pointy and thinner chin windows) and a different engine cowl/sail area with dual intakes for the dual engines. It can be done, but takes a lot of work, not just some modifications.
You can see the differences below.

Your better bet is to get the Panda or Dragon (same plastic in the boxes) UH-1N in 1/35.
Hemlock… H-53 Barrel roll, impressive…
makes one feel sorry for the grunts in the back… almost… [;)]
Seen the Lynx do an Immelman? [H]
A H-53 barrel roll. I would not believe it had I not seen it.
Looking at that picture of the USAF UH-1N the tail rotor is on the same side of the tail as on the Marine UH-1N which means the assembly instructions for the Panda kit are incorrect. I do have the Panda UH-1N kit in my stash though I think I’ll just do it as an Air Force or Navy Bird instead of a US Marines aircraft as it is more accurate for the Air Force and navy than the marines.

Like I said, the tail rotor is an easy correction, just flip th e90 degree gearbox around on top of the tail.
@ Jon_a_its - Amazing Army Lnyx Helicopter Doing Back Flips? Outstanding!
Anybody had first hand experience with the Seminar kits?
Thoughts? Impressions?
