1/32 P47 kit question

Just picked up the Hasegawa 1/32 '47D 79th Fighter Group kit. I got the Master gun barrels for the kit (nice!), but overall, does the kit stand alone OK detail-wise, or does it cry out for more detailing?

If so, what do you recommend in terms of aftermarket stuff that will really make the kit “come alive”?

Thanks,

Gip

Gip,

A good starting point would be Eduards Big Ed kit. Make sure you order the one appropriate to your version.

Oob it’s a very nice kit, the only thing i would spend the extra moola on is Eduards harness set for it, it’s a tad bit fiddly but worth it in the end.

I would have to agree with the previous two posts. I just got finished with a Hasegawa kit myself.

It was perfectly fine out of the box but I went ahead and used the Big ED PE set for it and there is alot of detail in that set.Cool thing is if you mess up the PE the kit part you replace is perfectly acceptable.(ask me how i know that) [:-^]

So in a nutshell it would be basically up to you.

Now the only thing you may want check on is if the version you are going to build had the coorigated floor in the cockpit. The kit I had did not have it but the version I was building did. So if this is a detail you worry about. You may want to think about either scratching the floor with the coorigations or buy the resin pit set with the floor already done.

It yours to build and take as far as you wish.

Hope you have as much fun with yours than I had with mine.

I built the Eagleston version when the kit was released. I went completely OOB except for the AM guntubes and belts. Engine wiring, etc. were all scratched. Personally, I wouldn’t waste money on the PE set but…here’s what you can do OOB:

BTW, I used the kit decal for the IP. A little trick I developed…set the decal on the inst panel normally, dab dry and then apply a coat of liquid model cement. I shrinks the decal down around the gage bezels and looks pretty good.
