Yesterday I received my Squadron catalog and what I saw made my heart pound. A Hasegawa 1/32 P-47M! I even looked several times just to make sure I wasn’t seeing it in the 1/48 category. Has anyone gotten their hands on this beautiful big bird yet? According to the catalog it is supposed to be “NEW!” but I was wondering if it was just a reboxing of someone else’s product. I think it was something like $30 which I thought was inexpensive for a Hasegawa offering especially in 1/32 scale. I’m just so used to seeing something like a Tamiya plane in 1/32 scale costing well over $100.
I’d guess that it’s a typo and the kit is really 1/48. Hasegawa recently issued the P-47 bubbletop kit boxed as an “M”, with markings for 61FS 56FG I think.
didnt Hase and RG do a deal where they released each other’s kits under their brand names - all the RG phantoms are Hase kits, the32nd Jug may well be the revell /monogram re packaged.
Revell did a couple of Jugs in 1/32nd scale, but neither was an “M”. One was a Razorback, and the other a bubble top D. The rivets are outragously huge on both of these kits.
Revell/Monogram have boxed the following Hasagawa kits;
1/48th scale unless otherwise noted:
P38 E/F/G
F-4-E Phantom
F-4-U 5N Corsair
A-7 Corsair II
A-4-E/F Skyhawk (Blue Angels)
Sea King Helicopter (forgot the helo designation)
If anyone can add to the list please do. It is good information to have. Very often the R/M kits are $4 to $5 less expensive than the Hasagawa packaged kits. The additional cost may be worth it if you want the markings (decals) offered by Hasagawa.
I do not know of any R/M kits being packaged by Hasagawa. Maybe they do for the Japanese market, but I have not heard of it. Anyone?
As for the P-47 M in 1/32nd scale, e-mail Sqaudron and ask if it is a typo in the catalog. rangerj
Hasegawa very recently released a P-47M in 1/48 scale. Basically the P-47D kit with some detail changes & decals for the M version. I don’t think they have one in 1/32.
