im in the middle of a big iraqi dio, and would like to add a mig-21 in hasty sand camo to it. what is the best, but inexpensive if possible, kit out there in 1/32? thanks.
How’s it going?
Revell makes a 1/32 “21”…

Trumpeter makes a Mig-21UM… (which I really like)

Also, check on ebay… you might find some pretty good deals on there.
Hope this helps a little… take care,
Frank
yeah i read the review on the trumpeter model, i think im gonna get that one with the Black Box update set for the cockpit. thanks!
The Trumpeter kit is several magnitudes of quality better than the Revell, but the price reflects that too. The Trumpeter kit is of an early F-13 or Fishbed C while the Revell kit is of the later MF or PF series. If you are doing a diorama of current times, the Revell kit would be appropriate. I am not very familiar with the Trumpeter kit, but the Revell kit also includes a moderately decent Tumansky engine and the empanage of the plane is removable for simulating an engine change or major engine maintenance. I just checked a couple of sources and found out Trumpeter also makes a Mig-21 MF or Fishbed J in 1/32. Both Trumpeter kits have the complete engine, removable tail section and maintenance dolly for the engine. Each is $50 through www.Squadron.com

i think the iraqi mig would be a little older so ill look up some research on it but thanks guys!
I’m currently working on the Trumpeter 1/32 Mig-21 F-13, the earliest mass produced Fishbed. AFAIK, most F-13’s are NMF with only Egypt and East Germany had camo do’s (google “Wing’s palette” to find out). I think the Iraqi Migs are of the later versions, but I could be wrong.
Anyways, the quality of the trumpeter kit is not bad. Tons of options, very good detail. The fit is generally good, except for any parts with a curvy mating surface. Cockpit is good considering it’s stock, but I can’t find any aftermarket cockpit sets for this early version so I’ll have to accept it anyways.
I think a lot of stores are discounting the trumpeter migs. Not sure why though. I got mine for Cdn$60, not bad.
Few months ago i wanted to buy revells mig 21 in 1/32 but few friends told me that this model is too old and it is pure sh.t. So my recomandation is …away from revell
