1/32 Heinkel HE 111

In case anybody’s interested, I just ordered the new Revell 1/32 HE 111 kit from Hannants in England. As far as I know it’s still not available in the states. When it arrives I’ll do an in-the-box review with photos and post it. I might need a little help figuring out how to post multiple photos but I’m sure when the time comes you guys will provide the necessary block of instruction. [:D]

I’ll be watching that build, great for you. Man, I got to hand it to Revell for doing a 1/32 Ju 88A-1 (heard great things about that kit) and now a He 111P in the BoB era, what’s next, a Do 17Z?[:P]. I only wished they’d do the Ju 88A-1 in 1/48 too and perhaps the Do 17, they’d be the only game in town!

To whet your appetites, you should check out Ted Taylor’s site. He has a build article at there.

Or maybe an Fw 200

Thanks for the heads up Gary, sounds awesome

Will be looking forward to your followup

Looks like a nice kit!

For those interested in adding a little extra, Revell have also released their own PE set for the kit.

Hey guys. First, thanks to Bish, because he’s the one that first turned me on to the fact that Hannants has the HE 111 in stock and also for the link to them for the kit and the PE set, and second, thanks to davros for the link to Ted Taylor’s most excellent build of the HE111.

So, after seeing the Taylor build, do you guys still want to see photos of the kit when I get it? I’m more than happy to do it so please give me your input.

I got an e-mail from Hannants this morning and the kit has been shipped. Yay!!

ye, sure we want to see pics. Can never have enough reviews on a kit.

Told you they would be fast. I ordered a couple of items the other week and they had posted it 2 hours later. They have got alot better with the new site.

You betcha Gary, would like to see them if you get a chance

And, thanks Bish, now you show the PE for it too, I am getting itchy!!!

As I write this I have got this kit next to me and I’m preparing to upload my OOB review once the photos finish uploading… photobucket seems to be very slow today!

I am still building my JU-88 but the seatbelts have me bogged down a bit. Might have to start my HE 111 for a bit of light relief and a rest from the 88!

Watch out soon for my OOB HE-11 Review

James

2 1/32nd twinned engine kits on the go at the same time. Are you mad. Bill, my pleasure, always nice to help other people spend their money.

I used to be mad, but now I have worked it out that being sane is just a state of mind… It’s just that mine is different to everybody elses!

Bish, the HE111 is bigger than the JU88 in length (5cm approx) wingspan (lost count) and fuselage width & depth. Miss this and you WILL be kicking yourself.

Nothing wrong with more than one build on the go when you run out of energy on one you can work on another. I think I will do like I am doing the JU88 - 1 just an OOB build and another with the detail sets etc. At £60 or under it won’t break the bank!

Do you want me to log this build as well???

James

It’s deffinatly been adding to the 32nd to buy list. But afraid its not in line behind a 109E, Me 262 and the 88.

I did think it would be a bit bigger. and will look forward to your WiP along with the rest of the 88 when you get abck to it.

Snapdragon: Where’s you get the HE 111 kit so fast? I’m jealous. [:)] And yes, please do a log of the Ju-88. I have that kit in my pile so if you want to break trail that would be awesome. Can’t wait to see both projects.

gary, snap has alreday started a WiP on the 88. But as he says, he has paused it for a bit. But its looking good so far.

Only thing really useful about an In-box review is the kit price, as far as I’m concerned (what is the kit price, BTW?)… But I’d LOVE to read a build-log… That’s what REALLY is useful information, since no fit issues, part-damage, decal problems, etc, can be gleaned from looking at or reading about what’s on the sprues… Besides, I like the surprise of opening the box… Good OR bad, it’s like Christmas…

Whether or not one uses AM parts or scratch-builds is of no consequence either, since the main story is gonna be the kit… Everyone figures out the details as they build thier own kit…

So, please… Let us know when you get ready to cut styrene! I’ll be watching…

Hannants has it for £54, though it should be £60. So not sure what you guys will be looking at. Maybe $90?

The HE 111 from Hannants, delivered to my door, runs $116 and some change. Squadron and Great models both are taking pre-orders at $99 plus shipping, but at squadron all you’ll have to do is buy one jar of paint or something and you’ll be over $100 and then the shipping is free. I’m OK with the price I paid, as the MSRP is $116, exactly what I paid. If I was in the UK it would’ve been much cheaper, as it was $44 to ship it to the states.

OK chaps, here’s the basics.

I picked up the kit today from my local hobby shop in Halifax West Yorkshire (England for those who don’t know. It has cost me £54 plus a motobike ride. I could have got it yesterday, but didn’t have the time.

The official RRP is £59.99 in the UK. The shipping to the US is costly as it is a big box. I know because I sat on the pavement (sidewalk) outside the shop for 10 minutes figuring how to fasten it onto my motorbike safely. For those who can’t wait in the US to get one my best advice is to go here:

I think that they may have cheaper shipping than Hannants, and it is my local hobby shop. It is a good shop with kits piled high everywhere. If you can’t see it on the website phone and ask, they are a really nice bunch of chaps.

It looks like the US stores prices are comparable to the UK RRP given the exchange rate and it is actually due for release there in August which is only a couple of weeks off, just right to watch my build here.

While I was in the shop picking mine up 4 of the He-111’s were sold and mine made the 5th… I have had it on order for a long time and badgered the Revell rep whenever I caught him in!

I have started this kit already and am in paint mode. I may get an update on my build thread tomorrow.
