1/32 Hasegawa - Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa (Oscar) - 59th Sentai, 2nd Chutai, Captain NANGO 1943

Hello everyone, just finished off this one. It is OOB except for scratch built harnesses, brass tubing added for guns, wiring inside cockpit and landing gear, and some wiring on the engine.

No decals used, all painted including the Hinomaru, fuselage bands and tail markings.

Interior is Gunze H63 metallic blue/green. I used Vallejo silver as base coat, then did pre-shading. After this I sparayed AK heavy chipping fluid where the Hinomaru would be underwing and all over on top where the green would be. After painting the green, (xf-61) I used a cut off brush and water to do “chipping”. Although where the yellow leading edges and Hinomaru on top were it was very hard to break through, so I used silve on a brush for chipping effect on these areas.

Antenna wire is EZ line.

I am pretty happy with how it turned out, I wanted a real worn aircraft and I think I achieved that effect.

Thanks for looking.

Wow Grant, what a beautiful project! I love the way you painted everything, including the roundels. Great job on weathering as well! Thanks for sharing! Raymond

Very nice! I agree with Raymond, great job on the paint work! Painted markings look way better than decals!

Steve

Great details added to the engine and I love the weathering you did on this![Y]

Really great looking build - you nailed “well-worn”!

Beautiful build all the way around. I like the look of the Aotake color. The chipping is very realistic, and so is the way you detailed the engine. All the painted markings look superb. What color did you use for the base camo? Thanks for sharing your model.

Thank you guys, Nathan I just used XF-61 dark green.

Paint job and chipping effect bring this puppy home! Great work!

Beautiful work, thanks for sharing her with us!

I can’t really say anything that hasn’t already been said[Y]

Very well done. The radial looks real…
