1/24 Testors Pantera-Start Up

I’ve wanted to build a Pantera for a VERY long time now and I had the opportunity to purchase a kit of one for a decent deal…so…I’ve now got my chance.

The kit is a fairly simple one in the fact that it only has around 60 or so parts. I’m going to TRY not to go overboard with this one like I tend to do everything else in the interest in getting it done in a decent amount of time and still turn out a build that I’ll be happy with.

Oh wow! You reminded me I have an unstarted Countach buried in a closet somewhere that I’d completely forgotten I had. I gotta find that thing and get it put together!

Back to the topic at hand…cool! I don’t recall ever seeing one of those. Very cool looking car. Can’t wait to see your progress on it!

Thank you Mike (@Schmidty13) and Bob (@SprueOne ).

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing that Countach Mike!! Pantera’s were a big thing back in the 80’s and I was a big fan of them.

Bob: Been a while since we’ve seen one of these on the road. Batman muscle mobile. LOLOLOL

I have always loved the looks of the Pantera. There is occasionally one parked in our company parking lot. I still haven’t managed to figure out who owns it, but I’m working on it, maybe talk them into a ride.

Thank you for the comments bud. When you do get around to a conversation with him, I’d love to see close ups of the interior in pictures.

I guess I only had eyes for the Countach. I had more Lamborghini posters on my wall than other guys had girly posters. haha

Cool project Joe. Does it have a motor or is it a curbside? The engine is such a prominent feature of that car.

Unfortunately, it’s a curbside kit. And you’re right, the engine is a good feature of this car and it would be nice to build one of these up with an engine.

Good ol’ 351. Frickin’ monster in a car this small.

I am in the aircraft maintenance field. Years ago, when I first started as an A&P, I was working at my local puddle jumper airport. One of the aircraft owners pulled up in his Pantera, jumped in his plane and took off. Before he left, he asked us to put the car in his T-hangar. I got the honors of driving it to his hangar with a small detour to run it up and down the taxiway a couple times. Fun car.

I’ll just bet. LOLOLOL!! I would’ve loved to have had an opportunity like that.

I managed to coat the entire chassis in flat black and will mask the recessed areas to come back over the framing with semi-gloss black and pick out what little engine/ transmission detail there is. The front suspension is just off to the right. It consists of an upper and lower main piece with two steering knuckles and a common link between the two knuckles. Not much to it.

Any guesses as to what this kit started life as?

I’ve gotta get my butt back on this one Anderson and thank you for the comments as well as your following along. My Ta-152 is on the home stretch and I should be on this one exclusively pretty soon buddy.

Hello Joe!
Putting that engine in that model would be exactly the way to go overboard with this one… Just sayin’…
Good luck with your build and have a nice day!

Thank you for the idea but this one is going to be strictly a curbside build Pawel.
I’m reserving my uplevel stuff for the build after that.

I’ve seen “curbside” a few times and am not 100% on what it means. Does it mean how the real vehicle would look coming stock from the factory?
