For those who are interested, Saco puts out a very nice looking kit of 3 M60’s. The only negative point other than they are hard to get hold of (customer service), is tha the guns are not “air mounted” (spade grip firing handles and bipod folded back along the barrel). Other than that, they look pretty good, although expensive.
Just type in 1/24 scale M60 machine guns in your Google search bar and its the first two choices. Look at both of them… you’ll like what you see.
And I think Saco makes 1:1 M60s. But sometimes when you’re looking for weird stuff in an usual scale or stuff in weird scale shapeways can be your only option:
Another thing is - who needs 1:24 weapons? OK, there are some auto modellers who do, like for a police cruiser (most likely not M60 though). Then there’s the 1:24 Huey - but still I imagine that the market for such stuff is tiny. Most likely perfect for 3D print on demand.
It was specifically “aimed” at those doing a 1/24 scale helicopter, and I was writing to them to ask if they would have 1/24 scale spade grips/firing grips, as well as the bipod being folded up along the barrel as possible versions. I see they do have what I’m looking for, but in a complete subsystem, rather than single weapons and it’s $310.00 dollars, which is way more than the cost of the model and paint. I’m trying to do a specific a/c from the battle of Ia Drang. It won’t be a “slick” as the 1/24 scale Huey model available (the Rambo helicopter) is a UH-1B. Most of the helicopters in that battle were UH-1D’s, but there were a few UH-1B gunships and support aircraft.
Sometimes it works to write people who have a model similar to what you want and asking them to rescale it a little - in your case rescaling from 1:35 to 1:24 might just do the job and as you see some of them are much cheaper than 300$ - what a price tag that is!
