1/24 Kubelwagen

I don’t build a whole lot of military models; mostly Sci-Fi, Real Space, Figures and Dinosaurs, but our club is doing a group build and I thought I’d jump in the fray.

Some of you might remember from a previous post that the kit didn’t come with any clear parts or decals. I remedied the situation by scratch building the windshield and printing some decals.

Painted with Tamiya acrylics and weathered with oils. Pretty happy with the results!

Man, that turned out really nice Rob! Is that the Hasegawa offering?
Nice job on window/decals! Diggin the base! What did you use for the ground work?
Happy Modeling,
Mike

Ahoy veedub76. Very good work. It looks like it’s waiting for Rommel to take it for a spin to the local watering hole. Love the base and the weathering. Thanks for the photos.

Mike, yes it’s the Hasegawa kit. Really nice, lots of details. As a former VW owner, I was really impressed with the engine and suspension details.

As far as the groundwork goes, I start with DAP Stucco Repair spread across the base and then sprinkle some rocks on top. Base coat with black, then drybrush various shades of browns and tans.

Nicely done! The overall dusty look turned out just right, and the base looks great as well!

Very very nice Kubelwagen build. Now its time to build a Schwimmwagen.

Would love to build one!

The Tamiya kit is dated and basic, but builds up nicely. I prefer the AFV Club kit, personally, but it’s harder to find.

Great work Rob! Looks good.
