Anyone know when Airfix is releasing their 1/24 mossie??

Early summer; it will be the F.B.VI, basically, will have 675 parts, and retail for around £100, here (that’s $154 at today’s exchange rate.)

[:O][:O] and [:O] then [8D]
Can’t wait for this one

I think that would make it just about THE most expensive injection moulded kit on the market wouldnt it ? At the current exchange rate that would make it over $AU240. Admittedly 675 parts IS a lot of kit, but still… And people still say this hobby isnt becoming too expensive…[banghead] One can only hope for slow sales, and Airfix drops the price ?
Not in the UK, it won’t. Tamiya’s 1/32 F-14 & F-15 have been over £100, several times, in the last 10 years, at least.

The Tamiya 1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise has been about £150 for well over a decade now. Most expensive Airfix own-mould kit, though (a distinction previously held by the 1/24 Sea Harrier at £80, which was also, originally, going to be the MRP of the 1/24 Mossie).
Cheers,
Chris.
I just a Tamiya 1/16 Panzer (or was it a Tiger?) in the new Squadron flyer for something like $1,269… I call that Insanity…
But 1/24 Mossie…hmmmm…THAT would be something to build!! How is Airfix these days? I haven’t built an Airfix kit for decades. They were never the greatest… I take it this is a new mold, etc?

They’re alright, not special. Lots of stuff from the back catalogue, over 30 years old, with mould quality that reflects this. Generally, their best, most recent, stuff is about as good as Italeri were 10 years ago, with worse decals and higher prices. Not many good reasons to buy their stuff unless nobody else makes waht you’re looking for - though there are exceptions, of which 1/48 WW2 aircraft and 54mm historical figures are probably themain examples.
I’m not even going to think about buying the 1/24 Mossie until I’ve read several reviews from sources I trust.
Cheers,
Chris.
I would have sworn that I saw one of these at Venture Hobbies in Chicago a couple of weeks ago.
I bought the 1/48 EE Lightning a couple of years ago, haven’t built it but it got good reviews and looks nice in the box, like the 1/72 TSR.2!
I am just finishing an older kit that I’ll post in the BoB GB tomorrow- it was a lot of fun although everything except the basic shell got AM’d or replaced with scratchbuilt!
Airfix IMHO is better than a whole lot of others, if not quite up there with the Japanese new stuff, but that’s ok with me.
i cant wait to see this kit,i love the mosquito,IMHO the most beautiful aircraft ever made.
i’ll never forget the first time i saw one fly at duxford, perfect.
