I am new to this forum and wish to share with you another 1/18 scale tank/diorama project. The Jagd is base in the 21st century Panther tank, all the superstructure is styrene with some brass. At the time of the photo several pieces still under construction, will post new pictures of the new finished details soon. The PAK-40 is from scracht and is a combination of styrene and brass, the project is on hold at the moment.
Every time one of my of my projects “lose steam” I just have to look at the magnificent models posted by fellow modellers at the forum, theres a LOT of inspiration over here and I thank you all for sharring your magnificent masterpieces with us. Hope you like my FOTKI album with many diferent projects!!
How did you cut open the Jagd? Do I understand that you are building this from the actual toy and then upgrading it with more detail etc.?
Please explain a little better. I like where you are going with this… I think! ( Smiley )
Now for some details, the base model is a 1/18 scale 21st Century Panther tank of wich the turret and part of the front “armor plate” was removed to make way for the Jagd front plate and gun mount. The MG 34 machine gun port was carefully cut from the tank and sanded to be used in the new styrene front superstructure of the Jagdpanther. All the new superstructure to form the distintive shape of the Jagd. hull was made using .60 styrene, the hatches and other hull details where made using styrene, for the back hacht 2 pieces of .60 plastic where laminated and some pieces heat formed.
The hull was fix with two small screws and nuts from the inside after that the gaps arround the styrene and the remaining lower part of the hull of the panther was glued with epoxy and blended with A+B epoxy putty, follow by bloch sanding.
The 88 gun mantle(collar) was made by laminating .60 styrene, sanding to shape and later blended with epoxy putty.
This is a quick explanation and hope it helps my fellow modellers interested in this project, any question fell free to ask.
I have added new photos of the Jagdpanther painted in it’s first coat of armor yellow. Yes, this tank in real life was impresive, it did’t look like it was desing in the 1940s…and the firepower WOW!!!
