Im wondering, has anyone attempted to rework or detail the 1/18 Panther toy made by 21st century toys? I have one and was wanting to deck this sucker out, but I cant seem to get those darn road wheels off. Has anyone attempted this with success? that P-38 would be a great project too. that thing is huge!!!

I haven’t even thought about disassembling mine but still can’t get over the fact that it’s a toy. All that detail and the sheer size make it quite a conversation piece. If only the maker would offer it as a kit. Just imagine the possibilities . . . hmmm.

I have a panther i’m going to repaint. Does anyone know anyone who makes decals that size? thanks

Haven’t seen that thing…it’s decent? What’s it go for?

I haven’t done the Panther, but am working on the 1/6 scale M5A1 (interior, improving the exterior etc) in my spare time. It’s well worth the work. A lot of fun. I say, ‘Go for it!!’ Take that thing apart and start cutting!

thats my problem, getting it apart. I cant get any of the wheels off without breaking them. Re:JHulk: yes, its very decent, not bad at all for a toy. They make quite a few different pieces , all in 1/18 scale. A Tiger, M-60, Bradley, Sd Kfz 251, M5A1, P-38,P-51,F4U Corsair,Bf109, Ju 87, and Im sure Im missing someting else. But, like their name, X-treme Details, theyre a pretty good detail project to work on.

I’d like some advice as well on how to disassemble the thing. Is it snapped together or glued with an adhesive? It seems well engineered in the sense that it was built to not come apart. Hate to break any parts since its likely replacements would be difficult to come by. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks. [:)]

Guys: The company that makes these tanks are 21st century toys. They also have a tiger I is gray and camo. Their web site is www.21stcenturytoys.com, I checked it out once there are others that are modifying their tanks also. And I believe there is a forum that you may get your answers at.

DJB ; the tank will come apart easily, its put together with screws, however, its the roadwheels that are a ^%%&& . Theyre mounted in there with some king of metal rods and theyre in pretty tight. Thats the only problem there is in taking it apart for painting.
