I am building a Tamiya static display 1/16 Tiger 1 (early). I know German armor plate should not show as rough a texture as, say, Russian, or cast, but in this scale I cannot escape the idea that the model should show at least SOME texture on the steel. I was interested in getting fellow hobbyist thoughts as I have been unable to find CLEAR Tiger 1 pictures. I also have only access to the King Tiger at the Patton Museum (100 miles from here) for reference…
Sqaudron’s “TIGER I in Action” has a few good pics of what you are looking for. Most rough surface spots are weld seams, but there is some roughness/impurities (or maybe battle damage?) on the front hull plate and gun mantlet. Also try this site: http://www.tiger-tank.com/secure/journal.htm
patton museum is awesome, we just went down there and I came back with tons of ideas. I think you should just give it a good camo job and it will look fine, but its up to you
