After 5 months of building, she’s complete. It’s far from perfect, but I’m happy with the outcome.

Thanks for looking

Interesting! Quite a bit of work there. Veddy nice indeed.
It scares me without it’s skin though. [;)]
WOWZA! Between this and that Wright Flier, I dunno which I like better. Both are absolutely gorgeous builds! I can’t even imagine all of the work that went into these. Thanks for sharing them! [bow]
I’ve seen this kit advertised at Model Expo. Looks like an interesting kit. Glad someone out there had the [censored] to tackle it. Looks like you did a superb job…congratulations.
Andy
I’m so tempted to build one of those kits. Great Job!
Nice how they use fuel to protect the pilot from bullets.
HOLY CRAP! That is really neat[tup] Great job on everything. I love seeing builds like this to remind me how diverse this hobby can be. Well Done.
Regards,
Jeff
She’s a BEAUT! Excellant!.. NOVI? (right around the corner!) You aint takin that to the contest in Warren this sat…I mean SUNDAY are ya!!!.. I’d like to win sum-m!
Love the prop. WOW!!!
A very beautiful build, especially in 5 months. I have been drueling over the advertisements in Model Expo and wanting to buy it, but being 57 I would never complete it before I went senile or died of old age. [angel]
Again, a very nice project to be very proud of.

I took about 7 months building up my Model Airways Sopwith; so you beat me. Your’s looks great!
After I completed the Sopwith I just had to do up their Albatros and Nieuport 28. About a year ago the Sopwith took a 1st place, Best of Class (Military), and Best of Show at a local model show. What I enjoyed about building them up, was for the first time I felt like I was really building up a real plane.
For Retired Gunpilot - I’m 61 and when I first started the Sopwith I also thought I’d lose my eyesight or go senile before I finished it. However, I found that age had sharpened my modeling skills to the point I was comfortable in working with in a new medium - wood vice plastic. So, I’d suggest you give one of them a try.

Beautiful job… I’m sooooo torn over that bird. I wanna tackle it m’self, through the incremental payment options at Model Expo, but dayuum… I’ve got a Revell 1/28th Camel in the hangar though, so maybe I’ll stick with that, but… Ah well…
Any interesting construction stories about it?
For any of you that haven’t seen it, this’s a good video of a restored Camel flying with a Spitfire. Note the total-loss oil system used on the Camel’s rotary Gnome and complete lack of a throttle, but a blip-switch instead… Not to mention the sound of that engine… Definately a plane that flown the entire time, right up to the point of engine stop…
Excellent work - a stunning model and museum worthy (to my old eyes). Thanks for sharing!
Anything to share on the build - hints or tribulations?
Cheers, Rick
A lot of work on display & all of it excellent [tup]. Thanks for sharing.
Regards, Rick
The Sopwith Camel took 1st place in her class and best Airplane of the show. Thanks Fermis
Congrats!!! Glad you came out.
Well deserved awards judging by the photos. Nicely done! [^]
Rob,
Nice work on the Camel. I’ve wanted one of those kits for a while, but I don’t have room to display or room for the box right now.
Hans,
Thanks for the video. You know the Spit pilot had to be praying for a tailwind to help keep the Camel over the Spit’s stall speed. I always thought of the Spit as a smallish plane until I saw it next to the Camel. I guess it’s all a matter of perspective.
wow!! great job man! it must be nice to see a model like this and know that you build it…
congratulations!!
regards
Jeremias
Cyber-high fiving you, LancairIV!
Stunning build Lancair IV, and a hearty congratulations on your VERY well deserved award. I don’t see how you could view it as “far from perfect”. It is perfection personified to my eyes.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting her. She is a visual feast and a treat to study.
That really turned out nice. Way too much work for me…
