Wow, that is an awesome piece of work. I’m afraid I don’t have any good references myself, but if you google M1A1, and use their image search, you’ll get several pages worth of very good information.
i want one[:D]–is this a one off scratch built?-- my only critisizm–it sounds piston rather than turbine driven-- but im only going by what i’ve heard on t.v. and some videos-- very nice-- gotta love the big scale!![8D]-- treadwell-- p.s. sorry no help on m.g. mount-- but someone here will come thru for you[:D]-- treadwell
Looks pretty good. Turning movements are a little too fast and jerky, in my opinion. Turret and gun move pretty realistically. Engine sound is wrong though, as pointd out above. It sounds more like a diesel engined 5-ton than an Abrams. Abrams has a destictive jet whine and takes a few seconds to spin-up before it moves. When is it supposed to depict? Reason I ask is the hull mounted APU (right rear of hull) was only used up till ODS ('90-'91) timeframe. After ODS, the turret bustle mounted APU was used. Good job so far.
Thank gentlemen, I used the Pershing full option stuff, so sounds wrong, I could not find m1 sound module.
another question, Heavyarty, does the commander copula rotate? so the machine gun will roate with it to shot towards the side of the turret. I want to add a function like it is true. For the APU, what if I just cut it down adn do not put turret bustle mounted APU, will that be ok?
Unfortunately, the site just went off the net over the last couple of days. Don Busack from Prime Portal is working on hosting the pics from Tanx Heaven on his site, www.primeportal.net , which is another site with lots of Abrams pics. I hope so, it was full of great referance pics. Would be a huge amount of info lost if its pics are gone forever.
