I am building a 1/144 B-29 for a relative who served as a tail gunner during the Korean War. I’m in this scale to save space for him and allow for a faster build for me. I have the Minicraft kit of the Enola Gay (#14488), which is the only one I could find at the local hobby store. Now I need to find new decals for his plane. The national insignia in Korea had the red bars by that time, the tail had a square “Y” and the wings had “USAF” above and below. I also need letters and numbers in this scale. None of these are available with the kit I purchased. I’ve checked at squadron.com and microscale.com. Any other suggestions?
If all fails you might have to make your own with the testers decal kit ive had to do it for a plane i built of my brother’s plane when he was in the navy if you can find picture of the korean natinal ensigna and find a font close to what you need for the Y on the tail all you have to do is copy the picture you want and start the tesors program single click the decal that it starts and press the delete key on your keyboard and just paste your sected picture rezize it and print it on normal paper until you get the sixe you prefure. hope this helps cause in know it can be a pain in the rear when you cant get decals that you need.
Thanks for the reply. Do you find the Testor’s kit at the hobby store or is it something on-line?
You can find it at wally world or Your LHS got mine from hobby town and it comes with decal paper but i would buy a pack of new stuf seeing that its rolled up in the box so you want to buy a new pack of testors decal paper get the assorted has clear and white paper in it.
