When I was 16 I bought this Airfix 1/144 747-200. I glued the fuselage halves together and mated the wings and horizontal stabs to the fuselage, put it in my closet, and didn’t touch it again until a week or two ago. I’m 32 now.
I thought it was about time I finished her up. I found the TWA decals at airline-hobby.com. Also, I used MM Acryl gloss white and aircraft grey and some Tamyia Acryllic aluminum paint. I also used a new Aztek A470 airbrsh for the first time.
I’m pretty happy with the way she turned out but I muffed up the cockpit widshield a little bit. Its ok cause she’ll be hanging from the ceiling anyways (since the gear is up).
I’ve been working on a Polar Lights Enterprise Refit for the last year so I thought I’d give her a break and do something new.
Anyways, here are some pics for anyone interested. I always love it when other people post pics of their stuff so I figure alot of you do, too.
cough little?[:D] Not so little even in this scale! [;)]
Fantastic work, I’m building the Revell version and having a blast so far. One of my favorite projects. I hope mine turns out as clean and nice as yours.
I just realized that I have to re-attach the antennas that should be on the back of each wing. Also, I think I might weather it a bit. The only time the planes were that clean was when they came out of the paint shop.
I might paint the black stripes they had on the wings after TWA 800 went down, too. Maybe.
TWA was bought out by American back in January of 2001. American only kept the MD-80’s. The 757s went to Delta, the 717s went to AirTran and Midwest, and I don’t know where the 767s went. The 747s, 727s, and L-1011s were already gone by 2001.
