For anyone building this kit,you need a good glosscoat (and I mean gleaming) if you want the aztec decals to lay down properly.That and a good decal solvent.Liberal amounts of Micro Set and Micro Sol didn’t get the job done for me.MONSTER silvering is the result.Very irritating.

Also,pay close attention to the pylons.This kit seems to be hit or miss with pylon alignment.My port pylon was a bit off which didn’t become apparent until I installed the nacelle.SUPER F’N IRRITATING!

Other than that it’s a good kit which I do recommend.

Verrrry nice job.

And “amen” on the solvent problems. I’m temporarily stalled at about halfway through mine, with the disc aztec decals done except for the edges. Even Solvaset doesn’t seem to put much of a dent in these. I’ve had to go back and try to work Future under the silvered areas, which helped some.

I resprayed the bottom of the saucer with gloss.Those decals went down fine except for the panel lines.Even after numerous passes with the knife they wouldn’t lay down.I’m glad I decided to practice on this bad boy before starting on the 1/350 PL Refit.

X3 on the decal issues. I had the same problem on mine. Luckily they make the model look so “busy” that the mistakes are hard to notice. Yours looks good. [Y]

Thanks.I’m glad I’m not the only one with these issues.I felt like a total nOOb.What kills me is how the decals layed down fine over all the ridges on top of the nacelles,but put up a fight on the flatter surfaces.
