Crazy-Creator-5601
I’m a retired stage actor and director. I have worked mainly in the United States but also did some stints in the United Kingdom and Canada. Now that I am off the stage and enjoying some free time I am still at it, which means I am still creating.
No more plays to direct, but worlds, historical worlds to create in scale in the form of dioramas. I like classic literature and music, as well as film music and have a vast collection of movies to watch while doodling with my modeling.
Alas, while I was studying and working I had little time to also dedicate to my favorite hobby which I started at a very early age.
But while I was busy working I nevertheless had the time to collect a whole bunch of models that varied from space exploration to Star Trek and Babylon 5 models. In the military range I had a passion for both WWII and modern (mostly Desert Storm) fighters and bombers all in 1/72 scale. On “boots on the ground” I always preferred 1/35 scale models, including figures, be they in styrene or resin, as long as they looked like they were doing something and not standing there gawking into a virtual camera. Little did I know how much work would go into it all, and I just started a few months ago.
And yet, even before that, since many techniques and tools had known a jump in quality and many were updated to a high technological standard I had to reacquaint myself with all that. It took me all about three years of studies and testing before I was at the point to yell “action!”.
And then I couldn’t stop myself, I had to start to create something and so I did set up a very ambitious and crazy plan - hence the name I gave myself here “Crazy-Creator” - to start with dioramas concerning World War II from D-Day to the taking of the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen, which entices that of each subject I will create at least three or four distinctive and different dioramas. The one I have already started comes shortly before the actual landing on Omaha and Utah Beaches, not forgetting the Anglo-Canadian sectors either, which will come later and deals with one of the many inspections by Field Marshal Rommel to the fortifications on the Normandy Coast.
All my dioramas will be depicting a set of real events either documented by period photographs or simply described by those who were involved in that conflict in factual history books.
I hope you will follow me in this crazy endeavor and journey of mine, since it will certainly be the ride of a lifetime…
