I have been building models for about 60 years. My first was a 1/48 scale Helldiver from Monogram. A birthday present from my aunt. Most of the models that I built came from her for birthdays or Christmas until I turned 14 or 15. After that I was able to get odd jobs with farmers in the area and was able to support my hobby. I have built so many models it is difficult to remember most of them. I built anything that struck my fancy. Planes, cars , sci-fi (Star Trek),armor, ships. You name it I built it. I took first place in a local model contest in 1972 and then judged that same contest a year later. I still have that winning model. A 1972 Cuda pro-stock car on a trailer pulled by a 1971 Road Runner. Over the years my interest has been pared down to WW2 aircraft and 1960’s and 70’s muscle cars. Working on a 1963 Galaxie 500 XL and a 1965 Shelby Mustang GT 350H right now.
