Zvezda has released a new sailing ship. Its called a Carthaginian Warship ( Punic war era) 1/72 scale.I’ve got one on order. Its suppose to be 2-masted.They are using the hull from there Greek and Roman ships then changing there decks and above.I know they are not historically correct models, but they go together very well and look nice when completed.I’ve done three and have had very good comment about them.Right now in the plastic side of modeling Zvezda is the only company producing new sailing ship kits.I’ll give a report on the kit when I get it.
I will be most interested to read your report, Rod. I had an opportunity to stock them in my stores but I passed on them in favor of the Zvezda subs and aircraft models.
Coincidentally I’ve just been over to their site and noticed they have a Cutty Sark and HMS Victory now. Anyone know if these are new toolings or as I suspect the old Revell ones?
Hello, there was a discussion about Zvezda sailing ships in the forum and there was stated that situation. Indeed, HMS Victory is 1/180 and Cutty Sark is 1/130 scale, exactly same with Airfix. Zvezda packages some western products exclusively for the Russian market and those two are among that range.
Thanks Kapudan. I knew Revell used some Zvezda toolings but I didn’t realise Zvezda sold Airfix kits etc under their own label, so that clears that up!
