Zvezda 1/35 T-72, is it any good?

I recently got the chance to sit in a real T-72 MBT (courtesy of the Czech army) and now am inspired to build one for my collection.

My LHS has a Zvezda 1/35 T-72 with ERA (just like the one I sat in) and I’d like to know if its a good kit or if better can be had of the T-72.

The exact designation of the Czech army one is T-72 M4CZ. Does anyone know how close the Zvezda kit comes to that variant straight from the box?

I’ll appreciate any feedback anyone can give me, if you know of on line reviews anywhere, links to them would also be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t know about the Zvezda kit, but dragon makes one with the ERA also. Hope this helps.

The Zvezda kit is the DML kit reboxed. DML did several variants with both reactive armor and plain. Tamiya is the best T-72 kit in 1/35, avoid the poor copy by Trumpeter. Esci also did one a while back that was not very good.

The Zvezda kit has some new decals which are good but the kit itself has a lot of flash on the parts. Another idea is to buy the Tamiya T-72 and get the Panzershop M4CZ conversion.
