It’s an often asked question here and on other AFV forums. I think the search function here will yield you lots of opinions.

Like I said also in the previous zimmerit posting, maybe an FAQ about zimmerit should be made and struck. I wonder if the admin will endorse this idea. — Ben

Yes! Zim comes up about once a week, maybe they should run a Zim series of articles in the mag, as well.

I will seem like a grumpy old man with what im about to say, but I really don’t see why we should have a zim FAQ. This forum has a nice search function and if people would just use that they would qiuckly find all threads related to zim and probably have their questions answered.

With all fairness to ephraim, we should cut him some slack for he is a newer member. Perhaps he wants the latest opinion or didn’t comprehend the search engine.

I don’t know if any of you have searched for zimmerit or not, but most of what comes up are threads about did they use Zim on , should I use zim, my has zim, the zim is PE. If you are more specific that “zimmerit” you get more useful results. However, new opinions can always be formed, and maybe the opinions gathered using a search were unsatisfactory for making a decision. With all the occurences of Zimmerit how Qs, why not make a sticky. Having the search option has not prevented it thus far.

I’m sure there is no question that has not been asked on one of these forums, so why even participate by posting when you can just search for all the answers?

Reason is that, people are to lazy to hit “search” and spend their time gathering knowledge. Most people today depend on quick answer.

Just think of this way, if no FAQ is made, we just have to keep repeating answering. It’s just weather people like it or not.

That is very true, but one should always start with a search to see if ones questions has been asked and answered before. Im not trying to hit anyone, lord knows when I was newbe I did the same mistakes, but I see a lot of old members doing the same.

Besides, even though new oppinions may have formed, many of those who have answered these threads in the past don’t bother to answere them anymore, so if you don’t conduct a search before posting you might cheat yourself of good answeres.

I always understood that forums were about building relationships and communicating with people who have a common interest and by doing that you get the latest info and techniques. Yes I did used the search function but I wondered as I have done with all my posts if anyone had some personal opinions…not just "how to do " articles.

On a personal note I want to make new friends, especially ones from the USA, AUSTRALIA etc as I have visited a few times !!

I agree with that. I don’t want it to seem that I don’t think people should use the search first, but if someone asks a question, please answer with a useful response. Don’t assume they have not used the search yet.

Which putty? I know people have differing opinions on which to use for Zim.
