Zimmerit or Not

Hi guys, I have an old Tamiya 1/35 Jadgpanzer IV that I’d like to use in a diorama, I never applied any zimmerit to it and was wondering if it could be used in a street setting in the last days of the reich without the paste on it and still be authentic.
Your thoughts
Bill.

Hi Bill, welcome to the forum. The Jagdpanzer IV was built from March 44 to I believe late 44, early 45. I would think that most were zimmed since zimmerit ceased in late 44. Just make sure it was the early editon, short barreled 75. Long barreled I don’t think were.

I had a feeling you’d have the exact times. [;)] Thanks, wasn’t sure about production running into 45.

From what I’ve been told the Jagdpanzer IV/70 (A) didn’t have zimmerit.

Thanks guys, I think I’ll go with no Zim

Well! Apparently they were not zimmed…except when they were!

Geez, I used to think I was s#$t hot with my knowledge of wwII AFV’s, but I am humbled by the depth of knowledge to be found on these boards. Production dates of zim, etc. Sheesh, that is impressive.

Don’t feel alone Rob, I feel the same as you. Peridexion and so many others are walking books of knowledge, and I’m very humbled.

Now that is a true Zen answer. [:D]
