zimmerit on a tiger?

Hi,
I am building a tiger 1, on the instructions it says the tank is number s45, russia 1943. It shows a three tone camoflage scheme but would there have been any zimmerit on the tank?

chances are if it dosent say that it did in the instructions, then probably the tank you are recreating did not have zimmerit

Since the tank you are building is a Tiger in 1943, applying zimmerit would be acceptable. From my knowledge and according to Tony Greenland’s book Panzer Modelling Masterclass, zimmerit was applied to tanks and Stug’s from early 1943 to autumn 1944. It was discontinued, because it was discovered to ignite on fire when struck. Hope this helps.

I agree with Tigerman. A Tiger 1 in 1943 could of seen Zimmerit. What production level is the Tiger 1? If it is an early Tiger1, then I would not use Zimmerit. If it is Middle production or higher, Zimmerit is a good idea.

Cheers

Rob

Thanks for the replys, its an early model so no zimmerit then!
