Zimmerit Application...

Hey everyone, just wanted to share zim application techniques. I also want to see what other people use for zim. Since I can’t do a poll in the Technique forum, this is what I’m trying to do.
MEDIUM

  1. I use squadron putty.
  2. Zim it right putty.
  3. An epoxy putty other that zim it right.
  4. I melt my zim in with a soldering iron or hot knife.
  5. I get verlinden or AM zim sheets or use the sheets that come with the kit.
  6. Other.

TECHNIQUE

  1. Screwdriver into putty.
  2. Tamiya PE zim tools into putty.
  3. Burn it in with “hot knife” method.
  4. Other.

I just wanted to really see what everyone uses for zim, since it’s not a very discused topic. Any wise words or techniques would be great, especially for people who need to know how to do it. Thanks.

I’m sorry I usually build autos, so maybe that’s why I’m missing this.
But, could you please define Zimmerit (Zim) Application?

Ooops, forgot that all forum goers see this.[:I] Zimmerit is putty or plaster-like stuff that the Germans (in WW2) put on the vertical sides of their tanks to prevent enemy troops from puting anti-tank mines on their tanks while in battle. It was made by the Zim corperation and this is my model showing what it looks like. We tanker fans model this stuff from putty and texture it.

Dude that is so cool!!! Thanks for the info on that topic, as I was really confused myself…I would really like to build a tank…one day!!!
