Zimm on a Sturmtiger???

Just ordered Cavalier zimmerit for my Sturmtiger and THEN ran across research saying since Sturmtigers didn’t get too close to the allies, they really weren’t zimmed… Did I just waste some money?

The bottom pic here has it

The superstructure didn’t get it, but they used old, recovered chassis for the assembly. You have basic carte blanche when it comes to that, if you do use zim though, I’d suggest you make it damaged.

This is what I did with mine:

thanks for the pics guys. ausf, what is the best way to damage pre-made resin zim sheets?

Ya got me there, mine was done with putty. I would imagine you could cut, pick and sand it to get the desired effect. It should look broken.

Geoff, did you get a kit specifically for a Sturm Tiger or is this one that is a sheet you need to cut to size? I am thinking about going that route for the Tiger P I have, but I am looking for a guinea pig!

jason, it is a sheet for the sturmtiger, not generic.

How about gently damaging it with a motor tool?
You know, to grind it a bit.

Hope this (somewhat) helps.

I’ll probably damage the pieces BEFORE I attach them. I have a small rotary tool I can use for it…

thanks for the advice everyone.

most sturmtiger pics I have seen have had zimm.
