I am building a DML Tiger I Late production (3 in 1) . I am now about almost half way into it but looking at all the filled sprues in the box, I can not really say. I have the ATAK zimmerit which I will apply to this cat. Now I’m not sure when to attach them. Should I do it while on the building stage or when I’m finished with the tank? This is my first time to attach pre formed zim as I use to apply the paste method.
Definitely in the building stage. That way you can spray the base over the whole thing, rather then go back and do it. A much cleaner look overall.
You may find that some of the zim panels can ONLY be installed while you are in the building stage. Typically the Atak panels will have cutouts for various parts that are meant to have the zim pattern closely follow along or around them…and if you install the parts first and the zim later, the panels won’t be able to fit properly. Definitely recommend you examine the panels carefully (since they don’t come with any instructions) along with the kit parts and instruction diagrams and plan out when and how you need to fit the panels to get everything together. I love Atak sets myself but they can be a little bit of a mystery puzzle at first…the panels tend to be mostly logically laid out on the sheet in terms of where they go on the vehicle with similar pieces grouped closer together but not always.
HTH!
Thanks for the advice guys. In between this post and your replies, I discovered that the hole in the rear hatch of the turret does not align with the hole in the ATAK zim. Looks like a big problem . Strange for it to happen as this particular zim was specific for this DML model.
