This is a live feed from a watering hole in Namib desert. Kind of mesmerizing to just sit here and watch which animals show up. I have this on screen while I model. Sort of like a window.

I just model,maybe some sports talk radio,definitely not watching anything.
I don’t use youtube much, usually to catch a couple musical numbers or the occasional concert.
What do I have ob youtube live?
Nada. Nil. Zippo. Zilch. Nothing. Bupkis. SFA. Bugger all.
Listen to the modelgeeks podcast during bench time. They have 26 episodes so far and each are about 1 1/2 hours long. Plenty of content and a very enjoyable listen. It’s 4 Navy friends with tons of modeling experience and tips.
It has its uses. I did this video a while back. Shelves are way more packed now :o
Now i like that idea, thanks. I sometimes load up the ISS live feed, that can be interesting. I often put on youtube to have music video’s on in the background.
Listen to lots of podcasts, but mostly random stuff on Youtube (and finding old songs or TV show episodes from the '70s).
The few actual channels that I occasionally go back to…picked up mostly at random, over the years…are:
*Lindybeige, an interesting Brit for historical/military stuff;
*Caitlin Doughty’s “Ask a Mortician”…I don’t know, I just find it interesting…and she’s got a raucous sense of humor [:D]);
*Steve Lehto, a Michigan lawyer with lots of quirky and interesting insights on legal matters, many of them ‘in the news’;
*Ward Carroll, an ex-F-14 pilot with lots of fascinating stories re naval aviation and such.
Oddly, I find myself too impatient to sit through most modeling-oriented videos; I find myself yelling "For ***'s sake, get on with it!" [8o|] (I’d rather read a good article, where I can scan through at my own pace.)
Greg, i am with you there on modelling video’s. I’d rather see a build on a forum of magazine article. Soon as i see a post with a video i skip it.
I have a YouTube channel but not really expecting anybody to watch it. I like a few guys and pick up some pointers as well as Model Geeks on occasion. Mostly just put on some music or a movie.
I just put on some kind of music, depending on my mood at the time.[;)] Usually just classical. You all know the saying “music sooths the savage beast”.

For me, just music. But I listen to all kinds of music, from classical to movie soundtracks to pop to rock when I build.
While I am at the bench, I’ll listen to music on YouTube, especially Two-Steps-From-Hell. Epic music genre. And I’ll watch the occasional Star Wars fan film. Yeah, modeling videos can be a crashing bore most of the time.
I typically listen to The History of WWII podcast while I’m at the bench.
I have found some interesting concerts by the Danish Orchestra, Spaghetti Western Orchestra, a Britisn guy who likes to have fun with classical and show tunes, sometimes combined. There are others, the British Uke Orchestra for example.
I’m right there with Greg and Bish on modeling videos. Some have been useful, but most of the time I find myself straining to hear the person speaking in the video…as well as wishing for sub-titles most of the time, even when the speaker is speaking English. Airbrushing videos I watch like horror movies usually, covering my eyes and occasionally peeking only to see another huge cloud of paint in some fuzz-encrusted paint booth. LOL.
I find that I don’t usually spend more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time at the bench, intermittently during my free time, so I usually just leave whatever I have on for background noise/chatter. When I am at the bench longer than that, I’m usuallly doing some sort of precision modification work, so I’m so laser-focused on that that I wouldn’t be actually listening and absorbing anything anyway.

THAT made me laugh. There is one guy I follow where it looks like he hasn’t cleaned his booth in years. I swear-- it must have an inch or two of accumulated paint. I marvel that it still seems to draw air. I need a booth like that! My filter needs a cleaning almost after every spray session or it won’t suck air. Maybe under all the crud of his, there is no filter. ?
Anyway–I skip that portion of his builds because what’s the point. I don’t care to watch someone spray paint. Kind of --been there–done that. His work is very loosey goosey, but I like to watch anyway. I have learned some shortcuts and I get to see what problems to expect on a particular build.
As for live stream-- there isn’t much that I watch other than music and some faith-based channels. But for non-live, I watch YouTube on my TV almost exclusively. I can almost always find something interesting. Recently, I watched a guys channel where he analyzes plane crashes before and after the NTSB report comes out. It is interesting. And this particluar story morphed into a lurid account of how the church leaders passed away in a plane crash, piloted by none other than a actor that played Tarzan. It is a bizarre story. Since the crash, more evidence has come out about the church, and it is being widely lauded as a cult. HBO has picked up on the story too and they created a show on it.
I am paying for cable, but I seldom watch it.
