I have a Jun-Air so does that mean I have an ideal setup? [(-D] [;)]
I would put some much better compressors in your “ideal setup” category other than the ones mentioned. How about a Silentaire SIL-AIR 50-24-T-AIRE, or Medea Great White Shark? [:D][;)]
They are a bit pricey for modeling though.
Iwata Eclipse CS air brush ( for general modeling work)
Iwata Revolution BCR (for Alclad 2 & MM metalizers)
Badger AirStar V compressor (actually a re-badged Silentaire scorpion 1C)
I havent actually tried all this stuff yet, but my current project will be entering paint stage within a few weeks…
I will post my impressions in due time.
My current setup is my first, so far from my ideal, but I’m very happy with it so far, as it is the first, and I’m enjoying it very much:
Testors mini blue compressor
Aztec a470 airbrush, + variety of nozzles
Home-made, PC fan vented, spraybooth.
My ideal would first to get a dedicated space for my sprayboot first, then go for the ideal equipment.
My friend uses an Iwata compressor and their airbrushes as well, so I guess if I could afford it, I’d probably go for that.
I currently have a small (1 hp) Cambell-Hausfeld oiless compressor on a 20 gal tank that is starting to get worn out. Could probably over haul it but as I also use it in the small workshop in the basement and on the vehicles when I work on them, it just doesn’t have the CFM. Its plumbed from its location in the basement to the workshop, hobby area and the carport with 1" PVC pipe. Currently looking at a used 2 stage, 5 hp 220V Cambell-Hausfeld on an 80 gallon vertical tank. Going to put it in the carport with a remote switch inside. Just have to convince the wife we need it.
