…I feel like I am slowly but surely learning a lot about the “regulars” in this Forum, and I must say that we have a very diverse and talented group of folks in here…some of the threads have really revealed a lot about your personalities…so tell me, what OTHER hobbies do you have besides modeling?
PS: wouldn’t it be cool if we had a get-together/competition of our own some day?
well let’s see. Motorcycles. Don’t know if anyone else rides but this is basicly another hobby. Firearms. Archery. World of Warcraft. FPS pc games … hahaha wow I need to narrow down.
Unfortunately work is working us like dogs lately and haven’t had time to enjoy much of any of these.
Woodworking, guitar, computers (six computers in all, networked under my own domain) and computer games, target shooting, gardening and reading. Hardly have time for models!
I’ve been lucky enough to meet some of the FSM guys already. RazorDWS (Dave) and DrewH, namely. I have to get together with Dave again, we have no excuse as I work in the same town he lives. Time conspires so! Drew is about 4 hours away and I’m hoping to catch up with him this October at the Vancouver BC Model Show. There are a few others from the Vancouver area, too.
I’m a reg on another model forum (LEM) and just came back from meeting a couple of the LEMurs in Alberta, where we had a blast visiting the museums and devastating buffets. [dinner]
I’m really sad that I’m missing the Nats in Anaheim this year, there are far too many people I would like to see who are going. [|(]
– 'nuff said-- how 'bout you, Eric Von?–a little more insight to you may be nice-- you are one of our newer and most prolific posters-- always cool topics, but I feel I know so little about you-- tread[:)][8D]
…fair enough: I love aviation (private pilot) and I haven’t even started mixing it up in the Airplane Forum (I actually have more models and modeling experience with a/c; reading; writing fiction (short stories and poetry mostly–a little publishing success); war games (I’m from the old school and prefer board games with cardboard chits, and my fav company is Avalon Hill); military history (obviously); basketball and soccer; History Channel…LOL…too many hobbies and not enough time…
Other hobbies? You mean there are other things to do besides models? [:D]
I’ve recently taken up coin collecting again…but nothing serious, just the state quarters and the new Presidents golden dollars series. Pretty avid reader, read daily on a wide range of topics. Models and model-related activity are by far the dominant time-wise though.
Once I get past family obligations, there isn’t always much time left over. I play a little on the computer, mostly IL-2, and some shooters on PS2, but the big one, from late April to mid October, is refereeing rugby.
Well, my family (8 of us in all) take up most of my time. But when I can I try to squeeze some extra stuff in. I really enjoy woodworking, saltwater aquariums, photography, and computers (build, repair, sell).
Kind of have a project going on right now that includes several of my hobbies. Building a custom stand and canopy for my new 50 gallon reef.
Besides modeling I play football and baseball for my school. School takes up most of my time but I also like to play video games. Woodworking is something that I enjoy but I have to wait for school to start to continue with that.
you ‘crotch rocket’ guys always pass me up at about a ‘buck 25’ poppin a wheelie—
and I am already doin’ 85to 90–[#toast]-- as long as it is 2 wheels,bro-- I am cool with that!!-- nice looking bike!!-- RUBBER SIDE DOWN–lol!!-- tread[8D]
Does the name Sheldon Brown ring a bell? [:D] My dad and I used to have a bike shop. I ride mostly MTB but do a few road miles on occasion. I try to fix-up a few junkers in the summer and give them to the Salvation Army and others just before Christmas.
I also play guitar, bass and harmonica. I kayak and canoe. Gunsmith part-time.
I collect fishing tackle, too. Why? I don’t know. I love to go fishing but, with everything else going on, I can’t seem to find the time[BH]. I’ve got unopened Blueberry Jelly Worms from 1995. What a shame. We need to go fishing, people!
Modeling is easily my biggest hobby - if I can call it that, seeing as I make anywhere between $500 and $2500 a month at it between eBay and commisioned builds. I usually spend 2-3 solid hours a day building.
My true “hobbies”, (i.e. fun things that do not make any money or have any other apparent benefit but are lots of fun) would be mostly music-related. I’m a decent classical pianist and organist, and also a pretty good singer. I sometimes play C or descant recorder (haven’t touched it for six months though[:)]) I also like arranging and writing music although I am no good at it.[xx(]
I do love military history. I read it when I have the time, and I also like classical lit when I’m in a really bored mood and want to read a 1200 page book, which is not very often.
Guns are fun too, especially since I live in the country and can go shoot off 100 rounds whenever I feel like it.
I play two computer games on occasion, Mount&Blade and my favorite, Company of Heroes. I can’t wait for the expansion pack coming out in November that adds the British 8th Army and SS Panzer Divisions[yeah]
I’m also good at web and graphic design, but don’t have any reason to do a lot of it. I’m pretty fluent in Python and Java, and know nothing of C++[%-)]
Used to do a bit of drawing last year…usually in class much to the dismay of my teachers…In the winter, I more or less eat sleep and ski. Can’t stand racing, give me rails, twin-tips, kickers and a park anyday.
Well, since everyone else has pictures…:
Here’s something from a looooooong time ago
As George Braque once said: “Art is meant to disturb.”
As far as skiing:
These were my 05 Line Chroni’s I got at the begining of the season. Snapped them nearly in half landing wrong off a 360…A week later snapped my collarbone in half doing the same thing…
And as a replacemnt, I ended up with 07 Line Invaders. Needless to say, I was a happy camper.
I watch alot of movies and play alot of PC games. Mainly real time strategy. The online game “Kings of Chaos” also takes way too much of my time, I’ve been thinking of quitting that so I have more modeling time.
I also read alot. History, military fiction, alternate history and the novels of the Lord of the Rings franchise mainly.
And of course cheering on my Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. [:D]
