Always fun stuff from you Neal. I gotta say the painting on that Jashinhei dude is impressive. The Gelf dude could be a Blue Angle ![]()
But it needs a Lifter Unit so it can fly. I haven’t made that (yet). The Gelf has a dedicated unit which looks similar but is different than the one for the Falguen.
This is the one I built for the Falguen:

I got extremely frustrated with the AMT 1/25 Autocar A6 4B semi truck kit. AMT’s directions, parts, and quality made me shelf this kit so I’ve been “cleansing” my palate with Bandai’s “tiny” Star Wars kits, Millennium Falcon, Blockade Runner,Star Destroyer, and Super Star Destroyer kits.
Hi Tom,
Those old truck kits can sometimes be a real bear to build. I find when I work on them having a few good reference pictures of the real thing helps a ton. Each step in the instructions seems like a jigsaw puzzle in itself.
One thing, that you may not be aware of with most of these kits - the pieces are usually added in numerical order. Start with piece #1 then #2, #3 etc for things like engine, suspension, frame etc. it almost seems too simple, but that’s how they are designed to go together.
I haven’t built the Autocar itself yet, but many of the subassemblies are carried over into other kits. If you have any specific questions or concerns, I would be happy to try to help, explain, or maybe even send you some of my references for that area.
These were my most recent three! The 737 I built a year ago, the paper craft valkyrie I just recently built. I’ve been working on that Gundam for 2.5 years and just finished it up 2 (maybe 3?) weeks ago! I still have to work on a base for it or something to give it better context.
Nice work. I’m an airliner fan so really like the 737-500. I assume thats the 1/200 Hasegawa kit. I did one in the Gold ANA liver. Very nice.
Those are great! And big too. Really like the finish on the Hein.
I like that big Hellcat AM! All three are nice.
Some great builds, this is one of my favorite threads, I just got the duster since last time because I’m a slow builder and because of life and a job ![]()
Thanks Frozin! The Autocar is on the Shelf of Shame" for now but if I ever resurrect it I’ll reach out to you. BTW, is anyone out there looking to purchase some AMT semi truck kits?
After my failed attempt at an AMT semi truck kit, I “cleansed” my palate with several of Bandai “tiny” Star Wars kits(Millennium Falcon,Blockade Runner,Star Destroyer,Super Star Destroyer, & the Razor Crest)and these Bandai vehicle kits are amazing! Just what I needed to kick start my “Modeling Mojo”
It’s been a very long time since I have posted anything here. A year ago, my wife and I relocated to Panama. Living in Latin America has opened up a lot of interesting variety to my modeling hobby. So, first and most recent completed model is the Hobby Boss 1/48 Embraer Super Tucano of the Fuerza Aeroespacial Colombiana or Colombian Air Force. I was attracted to the shark mouth motif, of course.
Next is a Hasegawa 1/48 F6F-5, VF-27, USS Independence, June 1945. All the marking are painted except for the tiny #2’s on the nose and tail.
Last is a Hasegawa 1/48 P-51D. This particular Mustang was owned by a car dealer in Orlando, FL, back in the '70’s. I had the opportunity to fly in this Mustang back then. The build is OOB except I took out the fuselage fuel tank and put in a rear seat behing the pilot’s seat. Kind of a nostalgic build for me.
Great stuff Frank. Didn’t know you’re in Panama!
I really like the Tucano - I have that one in the stash. Did you do a build thread on that? How was the kit?
Good stuff Frank, they all look good.
No, I didn’t do a build thread, keavdog. It wasn’t too difficult of a kit to assemble. It seems to me that Hobby Boss kits are very precisely engineered. The fit of the parts is excellent. I didn’t really need any filler on any of the seams. I’d say, get the kit on the bench, the build will go pretty quick for you. Be advised, you will need something like 20+ grams of weight in the nose to keep the model from being a tail-sitter. The landing gear is strong enough to support the weight. The way the kit assembles, you can wait until almost the end to put the weight in the nose, then put the prop on. I don’t usually build modern airplanes, but this one with the shark mouth just called to me.
Yeah, we relocated to Panama last July after two years of prep and a guided tour with Panama Relocation Tours in December 2024. Living in the U.S. and particularly Florida, was getting too crazy and just plain too expensive.
Thank ya, Tojo . . .
How was this kit to build? I have the same one.
Go for it. Easy to moderate difficulty of assembly. See my reply to keavdog up above.
